The statement should have been something only three people could have known. Clyde,Hammer, and Maethion.
Hammer knew that this young man had only recently arrived at Sivagadh Fortress. There was no reasonable way for him to know about the Elderglass sword or the artifact Hammer had once created for Clyde.
But the boy had spoken about both with absolute familiarity.
He knew the true name of the Elderglass sword. He knew about the special key Hammer had created for Clyde, the artifact that allowed him to open portals to places he wanted to reach.
Hammer's expression became increasingly unsettled.
Maethion could have known those secrets, but there was no reason for the elf to tell a newly arrived survivor about them. Especially not someone he had never met before.
That left only one possibility. An impossible one. This boy was actually Clyde.
"But that's impossible…" Hammer said aloud without realizing it. He shook his head, desperately trying to reject the thought.
