Chapter 5 - Stupid mortal

"What did I hear you say? You're coming with me? Look, whoever sent you to kidnap me, just tell me their name so I can put them behind bars. Also, tell me how much they paid you—I'll even double it—just let me go!" Nessy's voice held a trace of pleading, but felt irritated by it. Why should she be begging him? He was a buffoon after all.

Geb stared directly into her eyes and saw the fear lurking beneath her steady facade. Her pride and arrogance masked the lonely, innocent girl within. He admired that she was too proud to admit her fear. He knew she was intimidated by his aura but refused to lower her guard.

"Mortal," Geb began, trying to make her understand, "I am unknown in this timeline and need guidance until I find my place and return to my time. As your god—though I now know you do not acknowledge me—I tell you this day: I shall come with you. I shall trust you, and you shall trust me. You will help me regain my full will, powerful enough to break the bonds my father holds over me, and then I shall relieve you of my burden. Until then, I am coming with you wherever you go, and I shall shield you from every enemy and never let you lack until my burden is fulfilled. Dost thou accept to make me, Geb, Egyptian God of Earth, thy god until this burden is lifted?" he asked, watching Nessy, who seemed lost in thought.

'Bla bla bla… What is this fool rambling?' Nessy thought. Was he composing poetry? Reciting scripture? No, actually, he was quoting ancient Egyptian mythology. What puzzled Nessy most was why he spoke like a god—or if he was rehearsing for some play—and why it had to be in front of her.

Oh my God! Now she got it—maybe he wanted the gig to advertise their new products. But it wasn't about gods; it was about male and female skincare products. Come to think of it, he was a feast for the eyes. Nessy glanced him up and down, then realized he was still naked. Her cheeks flushed, but she thanked the darkness that concealed more than it revealed, allowing her to appreciate his perfect physique.

Nessy dropped the thought the moment he stopped speaking and asked if she accepted. She wasn't sure what she was accepting but guessed it was whether she wanted him to get the gig.

"Yes, sure. Of course you have the gig, and I can see you have nowhere to stay. You can stay with me—my mansion has quite enough space for two," she said flatly.

'This stupid mortal,' Geb thought. 'What is she thinking about? Gigs, poetry, advertising? What nonsense.' But what was clear was that she was ogling him. He smiled faintly, then turned serious when she blurted out her acceptance.

From the thoughts swirling in her mind, Geb knew she didn't truly understand what she had agreed to. Without wasting time, he picked up a sharp rock, slashed her arm, and licked the flowing blood before instantly healing the wound. He had to do this to seal their covenant, as was customary in his time, to strengthen his claim as her god.

"What the hell did you just do?" Nessy exclaimed, everything happening at lightning speed. Her eyes couldn't follow his movements. Suddenly, a strange sensation coursed through her; the hairs on her body stood on end, and she began sweating profusely. Dizzy and near fainting, she felt Geb's strong arm steady her waist as he muttered a few words and breathed onto her.

After his breath, she felt alive again—but furious that he had touched her. Embarrassed and angry, she landed a hard slap on his left cheek and yelled, "How dare you touch my waist? Are you insane? Have you gone mad? Apologize to me right now!"

Geb was amused, not upset. How could this mere mortal demand an apology from a god she had just accepted as the owner of her life? 'Stupid human,' he thought.

"What is your name?" he asked, ignoring her rage. After scanning her thoughts, he knew she would never understand his actions—ways of the gods no longer echoed in this century.

Nessy couldn't believe her ears. This pervert assaulted her, and instead of apologizing, he asks her name? 'Why is he so bold?' she thought. 'Why do I feel like I'm the one who must show respect here?'

Geb gave a sinister smile. At least the fact that she sensed his aura meant he was still the God of Earth and always would be. Even though he hadn't been worshiped for years, judging by this world, he could still be a god to a mortal—and gain glory.

Feeling slightly defeated, Nessy said, "My name is Nessy Saadid."

"Okay, Nessy. I am Geb, Egyptian God of Earth. But since I am now your god, you will call me Lord," Geb declared with every atom of authority.

"Hell no!" Nessy raged. "This is the height of it! First you harass me, then you physically abuse me, after that you assault me, and now you want me to call you Lord? Hell no, Geb!" She spat his name, and he fixed her with a death stare from his hazel eyes. Nessy felt weak in the knees; her fury drained instantly as fear wrapped around her.

Geb leaned close, his breath brushing her bare neck. "Let's go home," he whispered.

'Oh my goodness, did I make a mistake shouting at him? Who is this man exactly?' Nessy's thoughts drifted as Geb's warm breath sent an intense heat through her. She snapped back to reality when she heard, "Let's go home." …
