Chapter 22 - Occult record, CH.22: ring of Unity.

( Sun's POV )

After analyzing the ring she had obtained from Arata, my mother placed it in Urara's palm and it regained its shine.

Ren: It seems I can't put the ring on, but that shouldn't be a problem for you. Now hurry up, this place won't last long.

Sagiri, Ranna, and Urara put on the rings, and just like what happened to me, some of Arata's energy was absorbed by them, añfter a few seconds, Arata's transformation ended. As he was left without energy, his body began to stagger, and I ran towards him before he fell.

After the incident in the abandoned building, we all returned to my house, Arata hadn't woken up yet, so the girls and I put him in my room and we watched over him.

My mother said she had something important to tell us, so we were waiting while she scolded my father in the living room.

There was a strange atmosphere in the room; Sagiri, Ranna, and I were sitting around Arata, we wanted to take care of Arata, but at the same time we didn't want some of us to get ahead of the other.

Urara stood to one side, somewhat uncomfortable, she seemed to want to ease the strange situation but didn't know what to do, luckily she didn't have to think for long because soon my mother entered my room and Urara let out a sigh of relief.

Ren: Okay girls, I know it's been a busy night but bear with me a little longer, there are things we need to talk about.

Sun: Mom, is Arata okay? Why hasn't he woken up?

Ren: He is not in danger, but up to this moment his yokai blood is still trying to awaken, there must be some side effects from such a sudden awakening, but when he gains better control of his power he should be better than before.

We breathed a sigh of relief that Arata was mostly okay, but my mother still had a serious expression.

Ren: Tell me, Sun, where did you get that ring?

Sun: Arata bought it at the festival in seto before we moved here; the man who sold it to him has a shop in this city.

My mother had a thoughtful expression when I told her where I had gotten the ring; it seemed that she knew something, and Sagiri tried to get answers from her.

Sagiri: Ma'am, do you know what these rings are?

Ren: I believe so, Those are a set of rings called promise of union; supposedly, those who put on the rings are destined to be together, as husband and wife.

What my mother told us was similar to the story the old man who sold the rings to Arata told us, and that caused the ninja girls to blush deeply, Ranna blushed a little and gave a small smile, which, considering how she was, was a great reaction. Observing the girls' reaction, my mother let out a small chuckle.

Ren: jeje don't worry, that's just a legend, as you saw, the rings have the ability to store, increase, and exchange energy between their wearers, but that only activates when there's a bond of love and trust, that's why the ring didn't react to me.

Sagiri: L-love!

My mother let out another giggle and then she took one of my hands and Arata's and pointed to a new mark on our ring fingers.

Ren: Of course, the feelings between you aren't that deep, but the seeds of them are there, the rings are just an artifact to activate the contract between you, the strength of your feelings increases the effects of the contract, and if those feelings disappear, so does the contract.

Arata had markings on his two ring fingers, which were a thick black line segmented into five parts, and there was an empty circle between her knuckle and the joint of her finger; all of us had only one mark on our left hand and that was a thin white line.

Ren: Well, I think I'll do some more research on these rings, but now you should go to sleep.

Urara: When you said that one of us should be with Arata at all times, does that also mean during the night?

Ranna: I'll do it..

Ren: Oh, how enthusiastic! But it's best if you all go back home; Arata will stay here today.

( Arata's )

When I felt my body returning to normal, I began to open my eyes and realized that I was not in the abandoned building anymore, I lifted my upper body and began to look around, soon I saw Sun lying on a bed next to me and I realized that I was in her room.

Sun was looking back at me and she had a deep blush on her face; it seemed she had trouble sleeping with me in her room, I don't know why I was in her room in the first place; I leaned my back against Sun's bed frame to avoid looking directly at her.

Arata: I fainted again eh, did something interesting happen this time?

Sun: umm yes, A lot happened in a short time.

Arata: Well, it seems we can't go out together without something happening.

Sun: ... sorry.

Arata: Hey, I'm saying that in a good way; all the excitement you brought into my life, I can't imagine living it any other way.

After telling Sun how I felt, the room became quieter than before, After a moment, Sun put her head close to mine and she was more red than before, she closed her eyes and without thinking twice I brought my head closer and planted a kiss on Sun's lips.

That was a sweet experience, but I got a little distracted when I saw that Sun's finger was glowing.
