Chapter 24 - Occult record, CH.24: revealing the truth.

( Arata's POV )

The appearance of Sun's father was a surprise, but it turns out he wasn't the only one who had infiltrated our school, other members of Sun's "family" were passing as teachers, including his mother who had taken on the role of school nurse, that actually worked well for my recent condition, but the others weren't as helpful.

I was sure they had orders to mess with me whenever they had the chance, and they used every drowsy episode I suffered for that purpose, but I survived that without a scratch thanks to Sagiri and Ranna's care.

That was a strange day, but at the end of classes the girls had another surprise for me. When we went to the kendo club for more practice, they told me something I didn't expect from them.

Sagiri: Arata, I think we should reveal the truth to Chisaki.

Arata: what, where did that come from? I thought it was safer to keep her away from this kind of thing.

Sun: You saw the mark on her finger, she can't get away from this anymore, she is absorbing some of your power so she will be able to see the world hidden from her; also, evil spirits could target her to take that power.

Arata: Well, when you put it like that, I just hope she doesn't run away when she hears my story.

Urara: Well, if she cuts all ties with you, the pact of the ring will be broken and she will be safe.

Arata: But I don't want to lose her.

Upon hearing Urara, I responded with my honest feelings without thinking twice, which caused the girls to stare at me.

Urara: I-I'll go for Chisaki then!

Urara quickly escaped the situation and when we entered the club building we sat down without saying anything, luckily Urara didn't take long to return.

Chisaki: Arata? Do you need me for something?

Sun: Take a seat, there's a lot to talk about.

Chisaki entered where we were, somewhat confused, but Sun wasted no time in starting to explain, Sun talked about everything that had happened since the vacation in Seto where we two reunited and was also very direct about our relationship status.

When the topic of the pacts created by the rings came up, we asked Chisaki how he had obtained the mark on her finger.

Apparently, I threw a ring in her room the night she asked me for help with the pranks Koyuzu was playing on her, the ring shone just like the others the night before, and out of curiosity she put it on and made a pact.

At the end of all that, Sagiri showed her ability to create kunai and shuriken out of thin air, and I gathered energy around my fist, now that Chisaki was absorbing energy from me, she was able to see supernatural abilities.

After receiving all that information, Chisaki remained silent, trying to digest it all, but Sun still had more to say.

Sun: Chisaki, what are your feelings toward Arata?

Chisaki: W-what do you mean by that?

Sun: You didn't ask for any of this and you're not to blame, but the best thing for you is to forget about Arata, get out of his life and stay away; you'll be safe that way.

What Sun was saying clashed with the reason for this meeting, but she was very serious, and that didn't happen without a reason, so I didn't say anything and just observed, the rest of the girls did the same.

Chisaki, who had only known Sun for a short time, could only take her words as an attack, and she snap at that moment.

Chisaki: What's wrong with you? You suddenly appear, steal Arata's attention, and now you're telling me to stay away from him? Who do you think you are?!

Chisaki was now screaming, but Sun remained calm.

Sun: I already told you, I'm Arata's fiancée. Technically, I met him before you, and from the day he saved me, I promised myself that I would be on his side no matter what danger comes our wayAnd I'm not the only one. You could be targeted by someone who wants to get to Arata, are you sure you won't resent him for that?

Chisaki: Never! I could never hate Arata, he is my precious person, he has always been protecting me without saying anything and without making a big deal about it, I won't turn my back on him or walk away, so stop acting like he belongs to you, he's mine!

I didn't expect those words from Chisaki, and she seemed just as surprised; when she finished speaking, she froze for a moment, and her face turned a deep shade of red.

Finding no more words to say, Chisaki ran out of the building; I wanted to run after her, but Sagiri put a hand on my shoulder, she shook her head and I understood completely.

I didn't want to lose my childhood friend, but I couldn't force her into this new world that I now belonged to, this was something she had to decide for herself.

After all that, there was no time for training, so we left school and we bumped into Sun's mother as we were leaving, there was a car behind her, and we got in without thinking twice.

Sun's mother didn't say much during the trip, and then we stopped at what looked like an abandoned inn, the place wasn't derelict, but it felt like nobody had lived there for a long time.

Arata: What is this place?

Ren: This is your new home.
