Chapter 5 - Pevia

"Dreams are something else. I can't believe there's a city like this!" Wilson exclaimed

"You are not dreaming, human. Pevia is one of the best regions of the Conley Grand Empire." Princess Ginger Alissa Conley is proud of her family's domain.

"If you say so. Pevia, the city of dreams!"

"You won't survive if you keep thinking that you're still dreaming, or if you think of this life as a game." Princess Ginger Alissa Conley warned.

"Princess Ginger Alissa Conley. Your name is too tedious to mention, can I call you Ginge? I'll call you Ginge." Wilson was in a happy mood.

"You imbecile! Do you dare to make a fool out of me? Trash human maggot!" Ginge was extremely displeased at Wilson's haughtiness.

"Chill out Ginge. Isn't it a fun nickname? You'll get used to it soon." Wilson's eyes were checking out the extremely fancy facade of Pevia.

Pevia's colorful buildings are a testament to its lively culture. The people also wear expressive clothes, some outrageously so that they look like caricatures. Even the flying cars are designed in a way to attract attention. It was said that before the shift to color happened, Pevia was a city of grey. Somewhere along its history, the people decided that their region was too dull and the change began with the youth. They started wearing clothes that showed their creativity and vibrance, and they started to paint the walls of abandoned buildings with letters and pictures of beautiful and colorful designs.

The change was nothing short of spectacular. In the 639th year of the Conley Grand Empire, Pevia was still 98% grey. The seeds of vibrance and color were still in their infancy. The kids simply thought they were doing the 'cool' thing back then. They didn't even think that Pevia would dramatically change because of their simple dreams.

It all started with a man called Lawerence Li.

Lawerence always had nightmares of the world turning into black and white. He would often tell his friends about this and they would tease him that he's already living the nightmare since he was living in Pevia. Each day he goes to school and sees the grey uniformed students walking to the grey building where they learn about the way of life of Pevians, who were basically living the most dull and most grey life there can ever be. Adults go to work wearing grey uniforms and produce products that are also grey. Pevians have been living like this for a long long time, even before they became a colony of the Conley Grand Empire. It was said that the ancient people of Pevia were people who had no desires and only lived to continue living a very bleak and relatively pointless life.

Lawerence dreamed of color. As a native of Pevia, he didn't really get quick access to color when he was young. But a chance encounter with a wanderer introduced Lawerence to the vibrant and wonderful world of color. The wanderer that Lawerence met was an artist who was traveling through the cosmos to draw and paint the various interesting and mysterious places of the multiverse. He chanced upon Pevia while he was looking for a mystical mountain that was supposedly near Pevia's vicinity. Instead, he found the city of grey and he decided to check it out. What he saw was what Pevia actually is back then, extremely boring! So when he painted the city, being an artist, he exercised his creative freedom and painted the city in various colors!

Lawerence was going out into the woods outside the city when he encountered the artist, he knew that the woods was the only place where it was not grey, so he found himself comforted every time he explores these parts. At the top of a hill where one can see the expanse of Pevia, the artist was enjoying in creating his masterpiece, Lawerence chanced upon a glimpse of the artwork. At first, he was confused about the color and he thought that the artist was simply scattering things on the paper, but as he looked closer he saw the image of his city, in explosive and otherworldly brilliance. He was shocked to the core that there can be something like this and he shouted.

"Aaahhh! Pevia, the city of dreams!"

Tears fell from his eyes as he can't process the thing of beauty that was in front of him.

The artist noticed Lawerence, even before he stepped out of the city, and used a certain technique to slowly guide him towards where the artist was. He felt the pain in Lawerence's heart and created the artwork to spark something within Lawerence.

It definitely worked as Lawerence was at that time prepared to forsake his life just to learn from this 'master of colors'. Lawerence got nearer to the artist and he softly muttered, "Please, can you teach me that magic of bringing the city into life?"

"This is not magic, my little friend. This is art." the artist then picked up his brush and dipped it into some paint, handing the loaded brush to Lawerence.

"Art. Oh! My Lords. This is a revelation! Please teach me the ways of art!" Lawerence pleaded.

"Alright, my little friend. Come here on this hilltop any time you can until the end of the month and I will teach you some things about art." the artist said.

Lawerence felt that this was the way where his nightmares could be eradicated. He religiously went to the hilltop for the rest of the month, learning all about colors and how to make them from the artist. He learned that colors can be created by borrowing from nature, turning stones, leaves, and other natural resources into a fine powder, and adding a binder to create paint. He also learned about creating different things that come from one's mind, using the materials he currently has, he was able to actualize dreams in full vibrance and color.

It may be said that Lawerence was blessed by the heavens, as he was naturally gifted with artistic skills and painting was easy for him. He created beautiful works of art with his teacher and he became optimistic about his future.

When the time for the artist to depart came, Lawerence asked for his name. The artist only said, "I am a Multidimensional Spacetime Explorer. I paint for fun. You can call me Daigdig."

After that fateful meeting, the lives of Pevians were destined to change. Lawerence started teaching his friends about art, and initially, they were happy with just doing art for fun. It was the cool thing to do, it gave the extremely dull and boring Pevia a breath of fresh air with the abandoned buildings filled with colorful art of different forms and expressions.

As more and more people started to notice the shenanigans of Lawerence Li and his friends, word got out that art is the next best thing. It was definitely something that is much more appealing compared to the grey life that Pevians are used to. Over the course of the years, Pevians started to learn more about art, and their previously dull life, as if having been slowly flooded by water, became increasingly colorful and vibrant. Lawerence became the center of this change, and he established the first-ever paint store in Pevia.

As people got more and more acquainted with art, the city changed with it. Conley Grand Empire saw that Pevia was undergoing an artistic upheaval, so they started to inject new technology and culture into this once thought of as a doomed region. The Pevians welcomed the introduction of new things. By the 693rd year of the Conley Grand Empire, Pevia has changed into a metropolis of color and vibrance. A city can change relatively quickly in the 4th dimension, especially if it is funded by a grand empire.

Lawerence Li was around 80 years old at this time. He felt fulfilled and thankful for his chance encounter. He still can't believe that his once nightmarish Pevia is now a city of dreams. He thanks his lucky stars.

Generations pass and it is now the 963rd year of the Conley Grand Empire. The governor of Pevia is one named Pablo Li, a descendant of the enigmatic Lawerence Li who once dreamed of color.

"Welcome to the 2888th region of the Conley Grand Empire, Princess Ginger Alissa Conley, we are elated to have you here! I am Pablo Li, the governor of Pevia." Pablo Li immediately canceled all his meetings once he found out that one of the princesses went to his region. He would readily make himself available to anyone in the royal family.

"We also welcome Prince Hester Stewart Conley to our humble Pevia." Pablo Li almost missed the unassuming male beside Princess Ginger Alissa Conley. He knew that the Conley family was full of eccentrics, but this one was off the charts!

"Who are you talking to? Me?" Wilson was full of question marks on his face.

"You still haven't noticed, human. I - I - I mean, BROTHER!" Ginge blushed.

"Oh right, I transmigrated."
