Chapter 238 - Chapter 238

Jane was left confused as she didn't understand what was happening. She looked at Mrs Whitney who was already on the couch seated and staring into space.

She felt the whole thing was weird, but didn't want to pry any further. She didn't want to disturb Jack, he's probably still thinking about the girl he spoke about to her.

"I wonder what's up with him." Jane said.

"I'm sure he's fine, he must be missing someone. You should go to your room and have your rest. I will prepare something for us to eat." Mrs Whitney said and managed to smile, even though her mind is racing.

"You don't have to go through the trouble Mrs Whitney. I'm not so hungry, I'm to anxious to eat right now. I hope Chris is able to succeed with his plan." Jane said and Mrs Whitney wrapped her arms around Jane.

"We just need to trust him, I'm sure he's thinking about you too. And I'm certain he won't be pleased you are rejecting food. You need to eat and be fine, it's the only way you will get better. I'm sure Chris doesn't want a sick bride." Mrs Whitney said and Jane smiled.

"You always know the right words to say. Fine! I will have something to eat, but not much." Jane said and Mrs Whitney nodded her head.

"Fine, just as you wish." Mrs Whitney replied and made way to the kitchen leaving Jane to settle and admire the villa.

She can't believe she will be marrying the richest man in the country and she will get to live like a queen. Of course she loves Chris for who he is, and not what he has. But this is such a great perk and, she can't help but feel flustered about the whole thing.

"I'm just going to walk around and bask in the beauty of this place." Jane said and made way outside to the garden.

Mrs Whitney arrived in the kitchen panting hard with her hand on her chest. She placed her elbow on the counter reminiscing on what just happened now. She can't help but feel there's something up with Jack.

Her mind flashbacked to the things he said to her at the hospital about her children and how she never looked for them. She can't help but feel like he knows more than he's letting on.

And now he talked about finally finding Jane. Could it be that...

Mrs Whitney shook her head discarding the thought even though it was still lingering in her mind.

"No that can't be. This can't be happening, my past can't come back hunting me like this. Who exactly is Jack?" Mrs Whitney asked herself. After some minutes she decided to cool. She will definitely ask him later.

An hour later, Mrs Whitney was done cooking and served the food.

"I should get Jack so he can join us in eating." Jane said standing up.

"No don't worry about that, I'm just going to take the food to him. He doesn't seems to be in the right frame of mind. Besides you should not be walking around like this." Mrs Whitney interjected and Jane nodded her head in agreement.

"Hmmm I agree with you. And I'm fine Mrs Whitney, you don't have to treat like a baby. How will I get better if you don't allow me do anything?" Jane complained.

"You need more rest, at least for today." Mrs Whitney scolded and she rolled her eyes. Mr Whitney left with the food and headed towards the room where Jack was.

She knocked on the door a few times, but there was no response, so she pushed the door open. Thankfully the door opened the minute she twisted the door knob.

"Hey Jack, I'm brought your food. I didn't want to disturb you, so I decided to bring the food myself." Mrs Whitney said her voice high.

"How long do you want to keep pretending?" Jack voice came out from nowhere and Mrs Whitney stood there confused.

"What is that supposed to mean?" She asked and Jack chuckled.

"Did you think you could hide this forever and one day the truth won't come out?" Jack confronted her as he walked towards her and she stood there frozen and speechless.

"You knew who Jane was right from time right? Why then didn't you say something?" Jack asked and Mrs Whitney shut her eyes. Her fears have just been confirmed. Jack does know something, but she can't tell how much he knows now.

"What was I supposed to say to her? That I was the reason why her parents were murdered and she lost her brother? I bet she doesn't even remember that little detail of her live." Mrs Whitney said.

"At least she would have known the truth about her origin and helped in finding her sooner." Jack yelled and immediately controlled himself.

"Find her sooner? What are you even saying? What does this have to do with..." Mrs Whitney trailed off and looked up at Jack in shock.

"You are Jane's brother? The one who lost her all these years ago? You are my friend's son?" Mrs Whitney asked and he nodded his head.

"Exactly, you finally figured it out. Jane is my sister, and I have been looking for her all my life. I conducted a secret DNA test and that was how I confirmed my suspicion. Here, you can go through the result." Jack said and handed the result to Mrs Whitney who then picked it up and scanned through the whole thing.

"What!" Mrs Whitney was so shocked, she couldn't day a word. She stood there and began to cry.

"Oh my friend, I'm so sorry. I'm the reason you were killed and your entire family was ruined. I'm so sorry my friend. I tried my best to look for you both. I searched everywhere, but I could find anything. I really tried." Mrs Whitney cried out her hand on her chest.

"You should have tried finding your children first." Jack said.
