Chapter 9 - CHAPTER EIGHT: Found at last

"Would you all hasten what you are doing, the drinks are coming."

Hakira listened to the shout of her boss as she scrubbed and wiped the small podium she was on. From the moment the restaurant opened, everyone had been working quickly to put everyone in order. Finishing the cleaning she threw the cloth into the bucket picked it up and moved down going to keep it away after checking the podium for anymore stains.

Tonight the singer, Mr Jones and his band would be entertaining the customers with beautiful songs. Her boss had made sure to hire him because of him being a well known man to sing and play and everyone always loved that beautiful melody. Because of that, there would be more people who would come to watch him and that meant more customers for her boss.

Putting the bucket and cloth away, Hakira walked back to the bar where the drinks were, arranged in the shelves. She entered and sat on the long legged stool looking out at the customers that already were eating and drinking talking among themselves. At this time one of the workers, Falcon walked into the restaurant just at the same time Mrs Bridget the cook walked out of the kitchen using a napkin in wiping the sweat from her forehead, her fat body moving towards the door.

"Falcon what took you so long?" Mrs Bridget asked him, a look of disapproval crossing her ash colored eyes as she seemed ready to start scolding him.

"I sincerely apologize, forgive me my sluggishness but my late arrival had been with the reason of being delayed by some few matters at home before coming to work, madam." Falcon apologized respectfully with a bow.

Hakira smiled at his attitude, a true gentleman. Falcon was one of the most respectful man she had ever known. Though he always had to cater to the matters of his family being married already which usually caused his late coming, his truthfulness and pleasant behavior always spared him from any punishment and scolding. Most people took his meek, calm and good going attitude as weakness, she respected him and liked his attitude, a lot of people who knew him respected him of not all of them.

"Hakira ma lady." Daniel called out to her as he approached the bar leaning and resting his elbows on it as he gave her a smile.

"The day after tomorrow will be the day of the festival and you know there will be a gathering for all in the palace." His smile widened at what he was to say next. "I have no one to escort me there and I will love it if you accompany me to the gathering."

"I apologize but I have no interest in having you as an escort to the gathering." Hakira answered not even looking at him as she cleaned the bowls keeping them at the the shelf.

Daniel expression darkened at her response and his fist tightened as he tired to keep his anger in check. A little while his smile appeared once more as he spoke again. "Would you at least consider the matter instead of rashly disagreeing."

Hakira dropped the bowl and finally stared back at him. "Sorry but as I said before, my answer is no I do not want to go with you to the gathering."

"Hakira please." His hand reached out to her trying to get hold of her hand but she shifted back dodging his hands

"Don't touch me." She scolded, the coldness in her voice making him immediately retreat his hands.

It was not that she hated him but she neither didn't like him enough for him to touch her when he liked. Added with the fact that she didn't like that people touching her too much.

"Why are you like this Hakira? Am I that bad?" Daniel's face looked disturbed not understanding why the lady always treated him this way.

He had been pursuing her for a long time but she always never gave him face or even a little bit of interest. It was really annoying for him because he was a good looking man who whenever he pursued any woman was always sure to have them all except her. She was the only one who had not fallen to his charms

"Let her be, Daniel and get back to work." Mrs Bridget commanded him as she entered the place going back to the kitchen, a box in her hands which she carried walking past them and giving him a glare for him to turn and walk back to what he was doing before. Apart from Mrs Bridget being older than them all being in the age which was enough to be their mother, she was also the second in charge of the restaurant after the boss.

"The drinks are here, Daniel, Moses, come with me." The boss Mr Brad spoke up as he walked inside the restaurant stopping a few meters from the door to say what he wanted to say and then going back the way he came with the people he called following behind him. Hakira also stepped down from the stool she sat on and moved towards the door to carry some drinks as well.

"Where are you headed of to Hakira?" Elena questioned when she saw her moving towards the door.

"I am going to also carry some drinks, Elena." She answered back.

At this time the door to the restaurant opened and someone came walking in but Hakira who was already near the door had turned to answer her friend had not noticed the figure approaching and had turned back to bump face into the person. She had staggered as it seemed that she had hit a boulder and the person in haste had moved his hands to hold her steady. This little action had brought their faces together causing their lips to brush each other and sending a little wave of electricity in both of their bodies shocking both of them.

Getting back her feets properly, she was ready to scold the person but her words caught up in her tongue as her eyes set themselves in the face of the person. It was a man, a very handsome man and his looks made Hakira freeze in where she stood in awe. At that moment she would not be surprised if her mouth was wide open for the man in front of her.

He had a nice shaped face with small green emerald eyes that seemed to stare deep into her soul, a small medium sized fine nose which was flat with the tip pointing out and his mouth, his lips complemented his entire face, medium in size with the bottom being a little bit bigger than the top. Looking at it remembered her of their brief kiss and her face flushed.

His skin was a dark toned shinning yellow color reflecting his beauty more and his black hair which was covered with an hat reached all the way a little below his neck with a single curl fall forward in his face. She usually considered herself a tall and well heighted person but to this man, she only reached his chest and she felt a little inferior as he stared down at her, no expression on his face but she could see a little bit of something in his eyes.

The moment she saw his face, her legs seemed to weaken and if it wasn't for her having a strong determination to keep looking at the face of this beauty in front of her, she might have really fallen down this time. Her body felt hot all over and her heart beat had increased. Their lips brushing each other kept replaying in her head and her face was almost completely red. The taste even if it wasn't for long lingered and an urge to kiss him again came over her but her body refused to move to her relief.

"I apologize." Was all he said waking her up from her daze and her face flushed more at her attitude just now so she hurriedly spoke up.

"Sorry mister." Bowing her head a little with courtesy and watched him walk past her moving to one of the empty tables not acknowledging the stares the people gave him. Seeing the people stares of awe, Hakira suddenly remembered the sound of gasps that entered her ears at the time when they had both bumped into each other and then she realized that the people inside had seen the little thing that had happened and she had immediately turned back hiding her red face from them all and immediately ran out to go carry drinks.

A while later, all the drinks had been carried into the restaurant and Hakira had gone back to sit on the stool serving two men who sat in front of the bowl gisting and laughing about something involving a goat running head into a market place and people chasing it. Hakira didn't focus on their conversation instead her attention was divided between serving the two in front of her and the beautiful man that sat eating a huge leg of chicken with a bowl of soup and wine.

She spied him looking constantly always remembering their encounter a little while ago and blushing everytime, her thoughts going to corrupt and dark sides. Looking at him, his face since he came was the same expressionless not even making a face to appreciate the delicacy he ate. She could feel a huge coldness around him like he was covered with huge strong walls impossible to penetrate.

Curiosity suddenly swept through her, she wanted to know him. There was something about him that drawed her to him.

The men who once sat in front of her had taken their last bit of wine and had stood up to go out of the restaurant, the after effects of what they had just drank starting to show slightly as they walked sluggishly. With no other person coming over, she made haste to put everything in order and then when she was done went back to fully looking at the beautiful man which she was having an attraction to.

At this time, he had finished the meal on the plates and was pouring some liquor to drink and settle his appetite. Of course he had always been aware of the beauty that had stared at him from time to time. Well there were actually other women looking at him but he had only focused on the lady who sat behind the bar. Hakira watched him as he raised the wine to lips taking in a huge amount and then just as he was dropping the bowl back for the first time after their encounter raised his head with his gaze going to her.

Her heart skipped.

'What was that look?'

She could not tell what it meant but she could see a little spark in his eyes as he looked at her and it brought her body to an higher temperature, she fought the urge to lick her lips. Then when she was about to turn her face to calm herself down, she noticed his gaze shift to the door just as she heard the sound of the door opening. Her attention also moved to the door and what she saw shocked her.

Her eyes widened, her breath caught in her throat and her mouth felt dry.

"How did they find me?" The words screamed in her head as various thoughts ran around in her head.

Her sins had caught up to her when she was having the time of her life.

How? When? Where?

Right in front of her the past she tried hard to run far away from was walking towards her. Right in front of her was something she would recognize at any time and any place. For what she had been running from was no other than the VAMPIRES.

Earlier.

"Master, I have finally found her."

The news he had wanted to hear since he arrived here played right into his ears making his mouth curve up in a grin.

"Where?" The man asked back, licking his fingers.

"She works in a restaurant."

"What?" A look of shock and amusement crossed his face and then followed by laughter. "Haha, she has reduced herself to that. Such a disgrace."

"We have to wait till she closes."

"No that's a one way to failure. Even with what we have now it might still be impossible to take her down." As he spoke his eyes went down to the reddish object he holded in his palm.

"What do we do then?"

A smile played on his lips at the question as his eyes went forward to the woman that sat down beneath him, her eyes in a daze and a clean cut on her palm which she raised to him.

Ralmond, the man who led this group of six smiled as he could see a solution to the problem staring right at him making him bare his teeth in a grin. His teeth growing larger as he bit into the lady's hand sucking out the blood in it.

"My lady, you have caused a lot of trouble for many people." Ralmond said with a laugh as he sat down opposite her. The other vampires with him going to various tables mingling with the other people.

"What are you doing here." Hakira asked in a harsh tone, her glare making him shiver.

"Relax." He laughed trying to gain his composure. "He needs what you have taken away from him and you will give it to me or else."

His smile widened as he motioned at what was being done in the restaurant and Hakira bit at her lips as fist tightened in anger.

"Don't you dare hurt them or I will kill all of you." Hakira threatened looking ready to smash him in the face before letting out her breath. "Where do you want to meet."

Ralmond smirk widened at her look of defeat. "In the maize farm at the east side of the kingdom, before the house of the Bollinger."

He stood up and started walking out of the restaurant whispering for her not to keep them waiting. After he left, one by one the other vampires went out as well and then after a while some of the customers after they finished eating and paying also stood up and walked out of the restaurant to Hakira's dismay.

Her eyes glued to the door as she tried hard to keep her anger and trembling in check then it intensified when she glanced at the table of the man she had been looking at before her harsh nemesis came walking through the door to find him paying for what he had eaten and then standing up from the table following behind the others who were leaving and her heart squeezed in her chest as many unpleasant thoughts played in her mind.

"No not him too." Her voice almost came out to reveal her thoughts.

They were going to kill them if she didn't correspond with his wishes. What should she do?

Fight them. Yes she would fight them at least she could take them even if it might cost her somethings but what she could not do was to give him that which he wanted or it could spell doom for all of them. She could not allow such tragedy to be fall the people.

"HAKIRA!!!!!" A shout jolted her from her troubling thoughts as Elena's scream entered her ears.

"Am here, am here."

"I have been calling you, what's the problem."

"Oh it is nothing Elena, absolutely nothing to worry about, just lost in thoughts nothing else."

"Oh if you say so, come help me out with this plates."

"Am coming." Hakira said with a smile whereas her insides were in turmoil at what was to come.
