At the Old Port District Fourth Police Station, Chief Ford Hamill introduced to all officers, expressionlessly, "This is Deputy Chief Ronan Raymond, here for an internship with our station. Everyone, please welcome him."
The officers in the station's lobby looked at each other until the chief furrowed his brow with impatience, and they suddenly realized they should applaud to show their welcome.
However, the applause was scattered and rather perfunctory.
The reason was simple; Chief Ford's demeanor was extremely cold, clearly having no fondness for the new intern deputy chief. How could the officers possibly be enthusiastic?
Moreover, Ronan looked very young, resembling the typical noble scion coming to the station to polish his credentials.
Many officers instinctively harbored resentment towards Ronan.
