Chapter 10 - 10 Aftermath

Walking out of the alley, Batman had Stain slung over his shoulder while Deku and Todoroki helped the two injured members of this little party walk.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't much help back there. I'm supposed to be a pro hero, and all I did was get in the way," Native spoke while leaning against Deku.

"Don't worry about it, it would have happened to anyone in a one-on-one with the Hero Killer... well, almost anyone," Ida said as he glanced at Batman.

"Speaking of quirks, Mr. Batman, how does yours work? Can you manipulate shadows, or do you just blend into them when you stand in them?" Deku asked the man who saved their lives. He and the others were very curious as to how he showed up almost out of nowhere.

"I don't have a quirk," Batman replied in a monotone, making them all freeze. Even Stain was shocked hearing this. 'Bullshit! There is no way I lost to a quirkless guy dressed up like a bat! If he were quirkless, then why the hell was I so on edge at the start? If I knew he didn't have any power, I would have blitzed his ass from the beginning.' Stain thought. What Stain failed to realize was that he did, in fact, go all out from the start, thinking that Batman's made-up powers were a match for his. Yet, even with this knowledge, Stain still got his ass beat by a quirkless man dressed as a bat.

"You... Really don't have a quirk?" Deku asked in astonishment. Doesn't that mean he's just like him?

"...Since I was 12 years old, I trained myself to be the best I could be. I travelled the globe, learning from the best teachers the world had to offer, and then I went home with a mission. To save my city, or die trying." Batman said in his usual tone before answering Deku's question. "No, I don't have a quirk. I have my mind, my skills and my family. It took me a long time to understand that was all I needed."

"Really, that's it?" Todaroki asked quietly, making Batman pause for a moment.

"Well, I'm also rich," Batman smirked.

After the attackers on Hosu were defeated, all that was left was disaster cleanup, which the local heroes could handle. Soon, the guild team regrouped. Wonder Woman and Green Lantern flew down to Batman, carrying the still-tied-up and unconscious members of the League of Villains, as well as the last remaining Nomu, trapped in a green box construct, respectively. The Flash and Kid Flash sped in after they finished rescuing civilians, and finally, Saitama walked up, covered in blood from the two Nomu he ran into earlier.

Before any of them could even say a word, they all heard a ding sound come from their guild cards. Pulling them out, they saw a message and a countdown: Quest complete! Returning in 60, 59,58.

Seeing the countdown, Batman quickly pulled out and tossed a vial to Green Lantern. "Lantern here, use it on the Nomu." Doing as told, Green Lantern made a syringe from the vial and injected it into the Nomu; seconds later, the Nomu stopped struggling to break out of the box and went limp.

"What was that?" Flash asked while staring at the now out cold Nomu.

"Double dose of elephant tranquillizer,"

"Why do you keep that on you?" The younger of the speedsters asked before Batman responded with the words. "Killer Croc"

"Oh."

Batman cuffed the two villains, Wonder Woman brought so she could take back her lasso and then turned to the young heroes of this world before speaking: "Can you handle this from here?"

The boys looked at the bound villains and nodded. "We'll can, but what about you guys, don't you want the credit for taking them down? Even if you're vigilantes, I'm sure the authorities would understand-" Todaroki started speaking, but his words were cut off before he could finish.

"We don't do this for fame or money, we do it because it's what's right." Wonder Woman said. "Well, that and because of the guild-" Kid Flash's moter mouth was quickly shut by his mentor, and before the kid could protest, he found himself being glared at by Batman.

"Right, time to go," Batman said while at the counter, and with only a few seconds left, he turned to Ida: "Remember what I said. Good luck, Ingenium." And with those final words, they vanished.

----

Back in the guild, the team members reappeared. "Welcome back and well done. That was very entertaining. Now I'm sure you're excited to get to the numbers, so let's see your rewards," Rob spoke while still wiping his glass.

"Let's start with Wonder Woman. For completing the guild quest and defeating two villains, as well as saving nine civilians on the way. That gives you a total of 2100 GP to spend at your leisure.

"Okay, Saitama's turn. For completing the guild quest, defeating two villains, and saving thirteen civilians, you get 2500 GP to play with.

"Next is Kid Flash. For completing the guild quest and for saving twenty-two civilians, you made 3200 GP. Not bad, Kid." "Wicked" Wally smirked.

"Onto the mentor. Flash, for completing the guild quest and saving thirty-seven civilians, you've been awarded 4700 GP."

"Now Green Lantern. You get...wow, that's a lot. For completing the guild quest, defeating one villain and saving seventy-seven people, you've been given 8800 GP."

"How'd you get more than me?" Flash asked John.

"Before I contained the Nomu, it hit a train, derailing it. I had to evacuate the people on it first," John answers the Scarlet Speedster just before they heard Rob continue.

"At last, Batman. For completing the guild quest, defeating one villain and saving four heroes, you get 1500 GP, but that's not all. You have successfully completed the hidden quest as well, so you get a bonus reward."

Rob snapped his fingers, and two things appeared on the counter in front of him. One was a blue vial of liquid, and the other was an open case with a suit in it.

Rob pointed at the vial first and said, "This is the Super Soldier Serum created by Professor Josef Reinstein, real name Dr. Abraham Erskine. The serum enhances a person's physical and mental abilities to reach peak human potential, making them significantly stronger, faster, and more durable, as well as a minor increase in lifespan."

Rob then pointed to the suit in the case. "This, on the other hand, is the suit of a Batman Beyond your time. This suit gives the user enhanced physical capabilities like increased strength and durability, flight, stealth, cloaking tech, force fields and a whole host of other things as well."

The team that went on the quest, as well as many other guild members, were shocked at the hidden quest reward.

Sure, for a lot of them, these rewards wouldn't be worth much, but they also seemed tailor-made for Batman. If that was so, did that mean that if somebody else finished the hidden quest, they would get something that was customized for them as well?

"So, Bats, which will it be?" Rob asked the silent man in front of him.

Batman already knew which one he was going to choose; it was the suit, and there was a very simple reason for that. Batman did not trust himself with superpowers, which is why, despite knowing many ways to acquire them, he did not.

"The suit," He pointed at it.

"Understood, it's all yours," Rob said as he made the surem disappear and pushed the suit towards Batman. "A word of warning, though. Knowing your personality, you'll probably take that apart and test it in every way before deeming it safe to use, so I'll just let you know now that if you break it, I'm not giving you a new one. Well, you could buy a new one with GP, but right now you do not have the points for it, so good luck."

"Anyway, with that comes the end of the first guild quest. Now that you know how this all works, I hope you'll all enjoy what's to come next." Rob spoke to all the members of the guild as he stepped back behind the counter and continued wiping his glass.

Author note,

It's been a while since I wrote anything, and I understand why it's so hard for me now. I always have a great idea about the premise and how stories should start, but then I kinda blank on what to fill the pages with and what to do next. Anyway, here's a chapter so that I can say that I actually finished an arc, even if it was only like a 4000-word arc at best. This could be both the ending of this story, or I could continue it, I don't know.

It's hard to come back after 2 years of not writing and barely scrape up 1300 words while people like DarkWolfShiro, Evans_The_Writer, and AStoryForOne do 12000-word mega chapters a week, sometimes multiple times a week. And that's not me saying I dislike them, they are actually three of my favourite fanfic writers, I just envy their work ethic, creativity and skill.

I'm ranting at this point. Anyway, goodbye for now, I love you. :)
