Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

"This time, and whatever it takes, I won't leave mom to die again," Velten thought to himself as he continued to cry in his mom's bosom.

After a while, Velten calmed down and sat down to eat his breakfast. He was surely a crybaby, but you cannot blame someone that witnessed the death of so many important people for doing so.

His mom asked him about what happened again, but he just replied, "I just had a bad dream". He didn't want to worry her any more than he already did.

After he finished eating, Velten entered the bathroom and hopped into the water that his mom already prepared for him.

Velten took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and started talking in low voice "going back in time, huh? I mean, I'm very thankful to be the one to get this chance, but… why me?"

Velten opened his eyes again, looked into his hand, and added "there are a lot of people that deserve it more than me…"

He then clenched his fist and said "however, I am the one who got this chance, and I'll make sure to take full advantage of it…"

After a few minutes, Velten stood up and got out of the shower, and started drying his hair. He then held the towel with one hand and looked into the mirror.

His face didn't change that much. The strikingly handsome face with the sharp and long eyes and purple orbs that he got from his deceased father, and the random but good-looking black hair. Many girls fell in love with him just for his face, so he always wished his skills and power were as good as his looks. However, now he can change everything, once and forever.

Velten grabbed both sides of the sink and let a long sigh before speaking with a serious look on his face "if I recall correctly, the inflection point will happen after a few months, and the world will enter a terrifying apocalyptic phase"

"I think the reason I was sent back in time and given this system, is either to prevent the Great Disaster from happening or to lead the people when the apocalypse start"

"I don't think that stopping the Great Disaster would be possible, and it makes no sense that I'm the only one who has to lead the humanity, it's impossible for one guy to do that" Velten added.

"If what I'm thinking of is right, then could it be that there are other people who got a similar system to mine?" Velten wondered as he lifted his brows in confusion.

"Well, I don't know what will happen, but if it means I can save the life of my little sister and mom, I'll do whatever it takes to achieve that"

Velten then continued to dry his body, but his eyes widely opened as he suddenly remembered something from the past "Wait, is it still there?"

Velten tilted his head slightly to the right and touched his neck with his fingers to check whether the mark was there or not.

Velten felt his neck aching, and the place of the mark started glowing in red and slowly carving some shape in black.

"So, even after I got this system, it's still here… the slavery mark"

Humans are divided into casts according to the mark on their neck, which they were born with. Velten was suffering because of his mark, since people with the slavery mark were on the lowest cast, giving all the higher-ranked fighters the power to control them, which caused Velten to work as a slave for years after the apocalypse started until Taras saved him.

However, a method to disable and erase the mark was discovered later, but the higher rankers kept it a secret, so that they can keep the lower rankers under their control.

"I need to get rid of this mark as soon as possible" Velten remarked.

"Victoria is the only person that can use the purification skill right now, so I need to go and meet her soon" he added while wearing his clothes.

Victoria Strob. 1 year older than Velten and one of his closest friends. She has pure white hair and shining white orbs that look like crystals. Her eye-catching look never failed her with boys, although she didn't care about relationships that much.

She is the only daughter of the chairman of one of the top guilds in the country. She is one of the highly talented witches in the country, but she didn't participate in raids that much, since her main focus was to find ways for humanity to pass the limits of their powers and create different equipment with high-level enchantments applied to them.

Velten had school that day, but he went and told his mom that he will pass for the day since he had some other important things to do.

However, she didn't question it at all. She just thought that it would be best for him to rest and clear his mind after what happened earlier.

Velten left the house and went for a walk. While he was roaming around, he opened the [Quests] window and kept staring at it quietly with his hand on his chin.

"Even if it's a low-level dungeon, I don't think I can clear it without using any weapon" Velten murmured to himself, but after Velten said that, the window automatically switched to the [Inventory] tab, where his dagger was placed in one of the slots.
