Chapter 12 - Chapter 11: Holocron Heist

The next day, after Ahsoka was placed on guard duty in the Library as punishment for her disobedience on Felucia, I was yet again in the Library waiting for the events of Cad Bane's heist to begin.

"Hey Ahsoka, aren't you supposed to be on guard duty?" I asked to the Padawan beside me.

"Well, uh, well…"

"You just find it boring don't you?" I turn to her, giving her a blank stare.

"Shut it you! Anyway, what are you doing? Yesterday it was fighting techniques but today it's biology." She asked as she crossed her arms bending forward to look at what I had on the table.

"You're acting like a Tsundere; I'm learning about my own abilities. I have shapeshifting naturally and it's the ability I'm most curious about. Though this collar limits what I can do with it, it can't be helped."

"What's a Tsun-de-re? I feel that that's an insult!"

"It may or may not be. Which do you think it is?" I grinned.

"Both." She gave a plain bored poker face as she said that.

"Ding ding! That is correct!"

"…" she kept her poker face, and made no change other than hardening her state.

"I'll stop now. Yeesh you can be scary." I turned back to face my research material.

It will take another few hours until Cad Bane reaches the Holocron Vault.

However, my main focus was Cato Parasitti, the Changeling that Cad Bane hired to help break into the Jedi Temple.

I will be on the lookout for her, she will be come disguised as the now-deceased Jedi Master Ord Enisense.

My goal with her was to catch her, but also inquire on how to better shapeshift since I had been having difficulties recently.

It wasn't until an hour later that I actually saw her as Ord Enisense enter the Library and sit down at a table accessing one of the terminals.

Unlike in the show, the encounter with Ahsoka didn't happen since she had met with me prior before leaving to go to the other side of the Library.

"I'm sorry young one, the Temple is currently on high alert i kindly request you to leave now and head back to your room." Jocasta Nu tapped my shoulder as she spoke politely.

"I understand Madam Jocasta. Thank you for informing me, I was quite engaged with my research I hadn't paid attention." I stood up and respectfully bowed to her.

"It's quite alright. I must go on about my duties now. Please have a good evening."

With that she turned around and left, best guess is she will have a run in with Cato very soon and get knocked out.

I'll just wait until that happens…

"Padawan, alert, you must be. Sense deception, I do. Posing as a Jedi the intruder is. Find Master Jocasta you must."

I heard Yoda's voice on Ashoka's communicator from the other side of the Library.

Meanwhile, I had been nearby to Cato the whole time and had been hiding ever since Jocasta told me to leave.

Of course I wouldn't!

I was waiting for Ahsoka to arrive before confronting Cato, would also be good to have her as a witness to convince the others of my merit too.

"Bane, the two Jedi have turned around and are making their way towards you." Cato spoke while impersonating Jocasta Nu at the table.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka sneaked up behind her and ignited her lightsaber.

"Who are you and what have you done

with Madame Jocasta?"

Cato slowly stood up from out of the chair as she spoke "The same thing I'm going to do to you!"

She spun around with surprising speed, using the stolen lightsaber she ignited it and swung in vicious blue arc.

Ahsoka met it with her own green blade held in a reverse grip.

She flowed sideways, letting Cato's wild swing pass harmlessly overhead as she disengaged in the lightsaber lock.

Ahsoka deflected another clumsy swing and thrust with a simple pivot and parry.

Cato stumbled back, eyes widening in surprise she didn't expect, that a child would be capable of this much.

The difference was stark and clear, Cato realised if she fought in a battle against the Padawan she would lose.

The only reason she didn't already was because Ahsoka was going easy on her and trying to capture her.

Ahsoka moved like water and wind, evading her attacks while Cato hacked like someone swinging a axe.

Each parry forced the changeling farther into the library stacks, as she ran through along the polished floor.

She feinted left, then lunged right, trying to break past Ahsoka's guard. The Padawan simply pivoted, green blade snapping up to intercept any of her attacks.

The changeling wasn't winning this. With a snarl, she disengaged and bolted down the narrow aisle between ancient data stacks, robes flapping.

Ahsoka gave chase, but Cato had desperation fueling her, this back and forth pursuit continued a few times as Cato was clever.

She. Knew she would not win, so she used her only advantage and disengaged from combat briefly to give herself time to recompose, after distancing herself each time.

This would ultimately lead to her inevitable defeat, as Ahsoka would make a chair fall using the Force, to which Cato would trip over. But that would be boring and I would get no credit.

A shadow detached itself from behind a holocron display.

Daud's hand clamped around her throat like a vice, lifting her clear off her feet. Her stolen lightsaber ignited in a panic, sapphire blue blade slashing wildly across his scaled forearm. Sparks showered the floor like fireflies, but the scales were unharmed.

"Pathetic," Daud rumbled, his voice a low growl.

With brutal efficiency, he twisted her wrist until her grip failed.

The lightsaber clattered to the polished stone, blade winking out as it rolled away. Cato choked, scrabbling at his fingers as her form changed to reveal her true self.

Her disguise as Jocasta Nu vanished as her body shifted back to normal, while the clothing which operated on hologram tech changed instinctively with her thoughts to her Bounty Hunter attire.

"Daud that's enough!" Ahsoka called out as she rushed over and tried pulling on my arm that grasped Cato's throat.

I realised my grip on her as she fell to the floor on her knees, frantically coughing and gasping for breath.

"She would've been fine, I was going to choke her until she fell unconscious." I defended myself.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka rushed over to check on Cato to see if she was alright.

"That's still too much! Im going to teach you a lesson in restraint later!"

"Remind me who was the one that got in trouble on Felucia and placed on guard duty again?"

"Y-you! Argh! You're impossible!" Ahsoka angrily walked away a few meters to contact her master Anakin, and inform him we captured the Bounty Hunter.

It didn't take long until the explosion feom Cad Bane's droid occurred.

which can only mean that he had successfully stolen a Holocron from the Vault.

I went around to locate Jocasta Nu at Ahsoka's insistence, mostly because she didn't trust me to not harm Cato any further.

"This is frustrating, what am I? A hound dog?" I muttered to myself aloud, not expecting an answer.

"No, my bonus."

I heard a familiar cold and deep voice from behind me, I whipped my tail at the one behind me but they had already avoided.

I expected that so I swiped with my claws…

"Argh!" I yelled out as some kind of substance was thrown directly in my face as I breathed it in, i clawed out violently with wild abandon as I staggered backwards.

"*cough* w-what was, what's happening to-"

"Don't you worry about that, a little gift from a Sith Lord that invested a lot in you, simply wants you returned to them is all." My attacker, Cad Bane said those words to me just as I lost consciousness.

********************

The night before…

"Who's that?" Cato asked Cad Bane as she leaned over to have a look at the hologram on the desk.

It displayed a young looking boy with reptilian scales, a tail, and two horns coming out from the head.

"That is our Bonus, our Sith Lord client wants him alive. He had graciously provided us with the schematics of the Jedi Temple we need to infiltrate the Vault. As well as, a specially designed substance that will work only on this boy, to render him unconscious for us to kidnap if we are able to." He explained as he had a vial for himself and gave one to Cato as a precaution.

"That's good and all, but how would we carry a boy like him out unnoticed? Dragging a body will be obvious."

"I have that planned out. If you can, make sure to lure him into the Library and take him out there using that vial. Dump and hide his body here, then when I get out I'll take him with me. To which I'll take escape route two, if he becomes part of the plan."

**********************

A/n this part actually gave me some trouble on whether I should have him captured or not, ultimately I chose this as it allows for more change and flexibility in the story than being boring since he wouldn't be allowed in the Holocron chase as he isnt a Jedi. But this way it will help force the Jedi to allow him more involvement while giving a legitimate reason for it.

I hate plot armour or forcing events to abandon logic and narrative like other fanfics, im a heavy Lore Adict and stick by it.

Hope you enjoy, I'll post more frequent chapters soon as I now have more creative control than rewatching and. Copying certain story points.
