The moment Lex disappeared from within the Midnight Inn, certain characters noticed. They had been waiting. They had been plotting.
"It's done. He's left the Midnight Inn," said one, speaking to no one in particular. "It is time to send the message."
The Midnight Inn was closed off, so communication between realms was not exactly possible at that exact moment. But those who had planned so meticulously, probing the security team of the Inn over the course of countless months and learning its detection limitations, had already prepared a failsafe in case their messages could not cross the boundary of the realm.
Suddenly, many of them began to die, while a few of them remained alive. They did not commit suicide, nor did they kill each other. They simply died, their souls extinguished entirely. Far away, in various realms, many soul lamps were extinguished, signifying the deaths of certain souls.
