Shizuku felt how everything around her seemed to be spinning as the images of her companions' death repeated one after another, as if she was inside an infinite cycle of blood and guts.
The raven-haired girl didn't know what to do, or at least she didn't until she felt a sharp pain in her cheek. When she managed to look around, she noticed how her friends were still in perfect condition, with all their organs inside their bodies, which left her confused because she could have sworn she had seen them die.
"Did I see the future?" - Shizuku muttered as she felt a sharp shiver run down her spine.
"Future? No, you just had a horrible dream," Cloud replied as he continued to stare at the creature, who was watching his group apprehensively.
The danger level of the monster, was not as great as he thought, at least not if they were attentive, because the moment they let their guard down, it was possible for them all to die.
"Was it a dream?" - Shizuku repeated as she bit her lip because she couldn't believe it, it was all too real, she could even smell the scent of Kaori's blood and organs, as well as the warmth of her blood when it touched her skin.
"Yeah, that's one of that thing's abilities, remember?" - Cloud asked as he concentrated mana throughout his body to increase his magic resistance. Yes, he was immune to weak magic thanks to his divinity, but that monster was an ancient being that had touched god territory, which meant his protection was useless.
[I'm starting to get mad at you, irregular, you not only know about my abilities, but also how to finish them...] - said the slimy monster while squinting his hundreds of eyes - [Do we know each other? No, that's impossible, after all, I would have recognised your aura at once... Then it only means one thing, you have an ability to 'identify' your opponents, which makes you much more troublesome than I thought]
"I'm surprised that you discovered my ability so soon" - Cloud replied with an expression of honest surprise.
[I came to that conclusion quickly because that bastard, Ryusuke, also had that annoying ability] - growled the [Dream Eater] as he felt a growing fury - [Anyway, this puts you in a much higher level of danger than the rest of the insects].
"Oh, it's an honour" - replied Cloud sarcastically as he concentrated more mana within himself in order to amplify his physical abilities.
"Cloud..." - Yue said seriously - "If you can see its abilities, that means you can also see its weaknesses? Right?"
"Yes, but it doesn't have a clear weakness, and its only strength is that it reduces physical damage because of its gelatinous body," Cloud answered honestly.
"I see, what you're trying to say is that all magical attacks are super effective" - Yue said while squinting her eyes.
Cloud simply smiled in response.
"I guess it's good that Shea-san got out of the labyrinth," Tio added with surprise, "Although it's quite a coincidence that she was the 'chosen one', being that she was the least qualified to face this thing... Did you even know that, Cloud?"
"No, it was mere luck" - Cloud replied as he created a flaming spear and took it firmly - "But well, I think it's time we left this for another time."
"Ok!" - nodded the girls.
Lyutillis quickly brought her troops down while giving a glance to her best friend, who simply nodded.
Meiru again used her ability to change the area back to its former form, a simple cave.
Lyutillis smiled slightly as she concentrated half of her remaining mana to grow hundreds of trees.
The [Dream Eater] narrowed his eyes as he sensed a slight danger from this vegetation that had appeared, though he did not understand why. He knew nothing of these two women, other than that they were friends with the dragon-demon hybrid he had been torturing for centuries.
"[Tetra Nova]!" - Yue exclaimed as she concentrated fire, wind, water and earth elemental mana in her hand.
The gelatinous monster felt a chill on its rear end, so it quickly moved its body, though it was too late as the sound of an explosion echoed next to it.
The creature let out a sharp cry of pain as it felt its body being burned by the joint elemental blast.
Cloud didn't hesitate, he took the moment when the monster was disoriented so he could strike with his fire spear, with Tio running after him with his fists covered in grey flames.
Kaori was flying and channelling her mana over its head, in the process creating a huge sphere of light - "[Holy Blast]"
The monster let out another cry of pain as it felt how Cloud's hot spear had pierced through its outer shell and was embedding itself in its brain - [ARGH! You bastards!]
"Don't even think about escaping..." - Yue muttered as she snapped her fingers, and in the process, causing hundreds of chains to appear around the creature's body, which quickly pierced through its mucous membrane and surrounded its brain - "[Dark Binding]..."
Kaori smiled slightly before launching her massive sphere of light at the monster, which could only let out a scream of rage that was consumed by the sound of the explosion of light.
"[Draconic Breath]" - Tio growled as she placed her hands in front of her mouth and released a powerful grey coloured magical breath, which didn't seem like it didn't possess a specific element.
Shizuku looked down at her katana and frowned slightly because she was being the most useless person in this battle, something she honestly wasn't liking, though it wasn't like she could do anything about it. She didn't possess high magical power like the rest, she didn't have an elemental affinity either.
"[Mega Fulgor]" - Cloud muttered as he snapped his fingers, and in the process causing the spear of fire that had become embedded in the [Dream Devourer's] brain to explode.
*Bang!
Hundreds of brain fragments went flying everywhere while the beast's blood seemed to be pouring down like rain.
"Did we kill it so easily?" - Tio asked with a frown because this didn't make sense, I mean, this creature was a monster that had been sealed by beings far more powerful than the current gods.
Cloud looked closely at the smokescreen that had been produced by the combined explosions of all the powerful magical attacks, only to see a huge life bar rise up imposingly.
[HP: ???????/????????(90%)]
"Stay away!" - Cloud exclaimed quickly as he grabbed Shizuku by the waist and dragged her out of range of the blood and gore.
The girls didn't hesitate, they followed the blond's instructions and stepped out of range, only to hear the sound of a howl filled with unbridled fury, only to see all the blood and bits of brain seem to come to life and crawl in the monster's direction.
"I remember, that thing said in my dreams that it could control every part of its body!" - Shizuku exclaimed in terror as she watched the disgusting scene of the pieces of brains leaving a bloody trail as they crawled to their owner.
[That hurt!] - roared the [Dream Eater] as it poked its 'head' out of the smokescreen, showing the sickening scene of the brain fragments trying to return to their original place.
The girls could feel their stomachs turn at such a grotesque sight, while Cloud was frowning as he could tell how the monster's HP was returning to 100%, which meant only one thing, and that was that this monster was immortal, as long as his body fragments returned to his body.
[ROAR!] - the slimy beast let out a mighty roar before changing the outer form of its body, now taking on the appearance of a disgusting snake that seemed to be made of hundreds of slimes.
"Be careful, because that change in appearance is obviously not just aesthetic..." - Cloud said seriously, though his expression changed as he watched the serpentine-shaped creature leap against a wall and bounce off it at high speed before appearing in front of the group.
Sensing that it was impossible to dodge the monster, at least without hurting his companions, Cloud stepped forward and channelled all his power into his limbs.
He extended his hands and let out a mighty roar as he stopped the monster in its tracks, in the process creating a powerful shockwave from the clash of two equally strong forces.
Cloud kept his arms surrounded by powerful flames because he knew he shouldn't let his guard down, not with that creature made of slime, because if he did, it was possible that the thing would suck him into its "gel", and that would be the moment where the real danger would begin.
[Annoying bastard...] - growled the [Dream Eater] before flicking his brain with a hundred eyes towards his "tail", making himself safe from a possible counterattack by the irregular's group.
"Tch" - Cloud clicked his tongue because he had to admit that the thing's reaction time was faster than he thought.
