[I know, I too am equal parts surprised and confused by such a coincidence, though leaving that aside, it is possible that his ability is more dangerous, such as manipulating the thoughts of his victims, and we are only seeing a small fraction of his power because that is still sealed]
Lyutillis' expression changed drastically while Meiru continued to frown, because if what Vandre said is true, then that thing had every reason to be sealed in a place where it interfered with the gods' actions.
[Anyway, if that's all, I recommend you leave, I don't want to hear any more about how you're trying to convince me.]
"Relax, we don't plan to do that, that's why I want to stay here, after all, I have some things to report to the leader of that group" - Meiru said as she looked for a nearby chair and sat down.
Lyutillis followed her closely, still a bit puzzled by the fact that Vandre decided not to help them.

"Don't be angry, Van-chan" - Meiru said while rolling her eyes at him - "You've become a grumpy man with age."

"That means I'm still young" - said Meiru sarcastically - "That aside, I wanted to ask you about that source of pure mana..."
[It was the blonde challenger, the leader of the group, he faced an irregular monster and absorbed the magic from one of its attacks, concentrated it within himself and returned it in the form of a breath of pure magic]
"Interesting..." - Meiru muttered with a huge smile.

The girls just shook their heads, though at the same time they were a little grateful that he didn't burp next to them. It was stupid, but they appreciated the courtesy.
"How did you manage to do that?" - Tio asked curiously - "I am sure that the [Nidhogg] is not a dragon that is able to devour the abilities of others, even when it eats the roots of the world tree."
"It's because I'm not a natural [Nidhogg], I evolved into this race, but my old race was much more dangerous in the right situation, and luckily I kept my old abilities" - Cloud answered honestly - "My first race was called [Tyrant], and making a long story short, it consisted of devouring prey and constantly evolving by adapting to their genetic code, for example, if I devoured a sea monster, I could get the ability to breathe underwater and other things."
"Wouldn't that be broken!" - Kaori exclaimed in surprise as she thought about the imbalance such a power would cause.
"I know, that's why I'm confused as to why I evolved into a [Nidhogg]!" - Cloud replied while shrugging his shoulders - "I mean, it seems like instead of evolving, I've devolved."
"Maybe there's something you don't know between those two races, I mean, a [Nidhogg] is a one of a kind dragon, there can only be one, so its power level has to be extremely high" - said Tio while thinking - "Have you ever managed to devour something much stronger than you".
"No" - Cloud replied as he frowned - "I mean, that doesn't make sense."
"Maybe the [Tyrant] have a limitation, for example, they can only evolve with creatures of equal or lower level than them" - Yue replied while thinking carefully - "That's the only way I feel it could make sense for you to evolve into an [inferior] race..."
"Let's see, if we take it from the point of view of "balanced" gameplay... I guess the [Tyrant] could only evolve with prey that they hunt themselves, and they have to be in a predetermined range of strength, in other words, it can't be too weak or the adaptability process would be pointless, even when the prey's ability would be extremely useful."
Those present gave the silver-haired girl a surprised look.

Cloud was silent because he honestly didn't think things through too much, even though Kaori's words made sense, more so with all the limitations the [system] put on many of his abilities, for example, the use of Stats, this had no practical sense, other than to demonstrate the base power level of him and the other girls in the group, in other words, it was simple aesthetics because even with a huge difference in "stats", they could kill much stronger creatures with the right preparations.
Now that he thought about it some more, Cloud was silent as he thought about whether there was some way he could further simplify their stats to make them less ostentatious - "I guess I'll have to figure it out when the time is right, maybe use a method like the power level from [Dragon Ball]"
Cloud thought about this possibility as he nodded because he could feel that this was much more effective, using HP stats, SP, power level and offensive-defensive stats like physical and magical attack along with his defenses, that would be more practical.
"Cloud?" - Yue said as she raised an eyebrow as she watched her beloved stop.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I was thinking about something and I stood still" - said Cloud as he shook his head - "What were you talking about?"
"About your ability to use mana in its purest state, I mean, I understand your ability to devour other creatures," Tio said as she frowned, "But that doesn't explain why you can devour mana and release it so purely."
Cloud was silent before nodding - "It's because of a technique I learned from a somewhat special dragon, it's called [Dragon Slayer Magic]."
"[Dragon Slayer]?!" - Tio exclaimed as she felt a slight shiver down her spine - "Who could create something so heinous!"
"You'll be surprised at the answer" - Cloud replied with a small smile - "It was a dragon!"
"Impossible! Why would a dragon create something to kill his own kind!" - Tio exclaimed, though she quickly fell silent because she understood something - "Who knows how to kill your race, than a member of your race?"
Cloud's smile grew when he heard this question - "Right, only a dragon would know how to kill another dragon, that's why the creator of this magic made it to help a certain human kingdom win the war against some chaotic dragons!"
Tio frowned because she still couldn't make sense of the blond's words, not because she didn't want to understand him, but because it was ridiculous that such honourable creatures as dragons would fight against a human kingdom.
"Not all dragons are as you think, there are many who are of such a low level that they are simply driven by their instincts" - Cloud said honestly - "Besides, dragons are not so different from humans when it comes to their mentality."
Tio simply nodded because these words were a harsh reality check for her, after all, her race was created to serve dragons faithfully.
"As for the functionality of [Dragon Slayer] magics, it's that a dragon teaches it to you, and the power depends on that dragon, for example, if a fire dragon teaches you [Dragon Slayer] magic, it will always be fire" - Cloud continued explaining as he looked around - "As for my magic..."
"It's magic in general" - replied Yue while connecting the dots - "The dragon that taught you that magic, doesn't have a clear element, he's simply the dragon of magic".
