Chapter 120 - Lanius(Flashpoint/WC)-3

"What… what happened here?" Kara asked with horror as we looked upon what once had been London, at least before the whole war between Atlantis and Themyscira. The capital of England had definitely seen better days, days when Big Ben and London Eye weren't laying on the wreckage of the once great city.

"From what I understand, a war between two kingdoms of myths have been using places like this as their playground. Guess it must have been easier to kill each other when the homes they were wrecking didn't belong to them." I said with a snort as I searched through the rubble to find anything that might be useful left behind. It wasn't a very rewarding search.

"That's horrible." Kara said as she kept looking at the carnage around us. I think she wouldn't have much of a problem if it only had been the wrecked buildings but the clearly showing marks of blood on the walls were probably getting to her. Weird, I would have thought she would have less empathy after years of imprisonment.

"That's war. People can try to dress it up as nicely as they want to, but the fact that wars are merely a place for two sides to commit mass murder will never change." I said gruffly, more affected by the wreckage than I was willing to admit.

It might be weird coming from a guy that worked for an omniversal slavery company; but mass slaughter like this, for no reason other than convenience, rubbed me the wrong way. It was just so… so wasteful. What was even the point of killing everyone you met while you were at a war with a different faction?

"Anyway, there doesn't seem to be anything worth something around here, so we might as well leave." I said as I got up and dusted off my pants. Speaking of which, I really should find some proper clothes for my size.

But before I could ponder any further about the matter of my clothing, I sensed... something. Something that I could not sense as a normal human before the Company had recruited me, I was sensing... anger. A side effect of the Butcher template I had, more than likely.

"Kara, we got company." I said with a sigh as I turned towards the darker part of the street, where most of the road was submerged in water, which caused the female Kryptonian to start hover over the ground with her hands clenched into fists.

Which was good as several people started to rise from the water. Most of them were wearing some sort of armor made out of sea green material that had four yellow eye slits and had futuristic looking guns made out of the same material as their armor. Then there were two who had a more free expression in their attire.

One of them was a tanned girl with short red hair and green eyes that was wearing basically beach clothes, robe like attire over a two piece swimsuit. The other one was a tanned guy of average height with black hair, wearing a black form fitting armor that, for some reason, did not cover his right arm.

"Interesting fashion choice." I muttered as I rose to my full height, allowing me to tower over them by a very wide margin.

"Amazon! Tell your beast to stand down and surrender! Do so and you'll be merely taken prisoner instead of getting killed off!" The dude with only one arm covered, that I was suspecting to be Garth aka. Aqualad, yelled as the water rose from the ground and formed a sword in his hand; which he then pointed towards a very confused Kara.

I guess their mistake was a believable one. Unlike the Flashpoint Clark; Kara had quite quickly regained her lost muscle mass and became the beautiful young lady she was from the comics, likely with a little help from me stamping her, so her being mistaken for an Amazon was not that surprising. There weren't that many beautiful woman with well defined muscles who could fly that weren't Amazons after all.

"I am not…" Kara tried to deny their accusations of being an Amazon but was interrupted by the redhead.

"Enough of this! There is no need to listen to the lies of an Amazon!" She yelled as her arms started to glow an azure color before she thrusted them forward and sent a current of electricity towards us! Which did nothing as I blocked it with my chest, I was not sure how magically resistant Kara was after all.

Though me no selling her attack did not seem to deter the redhead, whom I was suspecting to be the Aquagirl aka Tula or something, who simply yelled as she charged towards us with the soldiers.

"Take their heads! I'm the name of queen Mera! Avenge king Orin!"

…what?

———————

How long had it been?

How long had it been since this war of theirs had started?

Garth could remember the day he got the news like it was yesterday. About how their envoy for peace talks with the Amazons had been betrayed by the female warriors, who murdered king Orin; the greatest hero of Atlantis.

As if such a thing was not heinous enough, those whores of Themyscira had even dared to accuse their king of murdering Hippolyta; the former queen of Amazons.

After such things, the decision of going to war was a forgone conclusion. All of Atlantis was behind queen Mera in order to eradicate the Amazons and avenge king Orin!

Admittedly, Garth felt somewhat guilty of the fact that their war had swallowed most of the surface world. The people of the surface might have been cruel and unthinking as they polluted the oceans, but there had been innocents among those who had been drowned by the tidal waves or were eaten alive by the monsters of Amazons.

But such measly feeling would not hold him back, he would do his utmost in order to help his queen take her revenge! Not even this new green monster or it's flying Amazon mistress would stop him!

That was how it was supposed to be…

"Gargh!" Yet he could do nothing as his soldiers were ripped apart by the green giant's hands or reduced to cinders by the red lights coming from the Amazon's eyes.

No, instead he was reduced to a gasping wreck after taking a single hit from the giant that now had Tula in his hands!

"You!" His love yelled before she was slammed down to the ground by the monster, who looked bored!

"You know, it didn't have to be this way." The monster said, surprising Garth as he had not known that the monsters of Amazons were capable of speech, as he walked towards Garth.

"You could have just walked away, or tried to talk. Instead you lot just had to come at us with guns blazing, or magics blazing I guess. We could have come to some sort of understanding if you just hadn't done that, but you did. You attacked me with no second thoughts, like a real idiot. But more importantly, you attacked Kara." The monster said as he crouched down and picked Garth up by his head, bringing him up to his eye level; making him look into the emerald green eyes with red pupils, making Garth wonder…

"And I take that real personal."

…just what kind of monster they had picked a fight with.
