Chapter 3 - Little Cutie

Victor's expression turned cold—this was the first time he'd ever seen such a sharp-tongued woman!

Before he could speak, the door was suddenly pushed open again.

A figure, fragrant with perfume, rushed in, shoved Vera Warner aside hard, and rushed to the little bundle on the hospital bed, crying out, "Zola, my baby! Are you alright?"

Vera steadied herself, and when she recognized the newcomer, her expression instantly turned icy cold.

She stared at the woman, hatred and disgust flashing in her eyes.

This was... Luna Warner!

She had actually saved Luna Warner's son?

The little one's hand, clutching Vera's lapel, was forced to loosen. He immediately panicked and began to push the woman in front of him like mad: "Let me go! Bad woman!"

"How can you say that to your mother! I carried you for ten months—you're my own flesh and blood!" Luna Warner hugged the little bundle even tighter, howling in tears.

Seeing the little one's face being squeezed red, Victor frowned slightly and yanked her away: "That's enough!"

Only then did Luna Warner straighten up gracefully, dabbing fake tears from her eyes and calling out in a soft, coy voice, "Victor."

Disgust flashed through Victor's eyes.

His son had just been kidnapped, yet this woman came in with perfect makeup, brimming with energy, and still putting on an act in front of him!

If he hadn't confirmed it with a DNA test, he'd never have believed that this woman was the boy's biological mother!

"Daddy! Mommy's gone!" the little one wailed.

While speaking, Vera had already slipped out in the confusion!

"Quit fussing! That's not your mom." Victor looked at his crying son, his gaze dark.

The little one, eyes full of tears, glared at him without the slightest fear of Victor's cold aura. He started rolling around on the bed, being willful: "I don't care! I want her to be my mom!"

"Zola Morgan!" Victor gritted his teeth.

Standing to the side, Luna Warner tried to put on a show and reached out to hug Zola: "Mommy's right here... ah!"

She was suddenly pushed away by Zola, slamming her lower back into the table corner. Pain twisted her face.

"You're not my mom! You're a bad woman!"

Luna Warner clutched her waist, lowering her head to hide the viciousness and murderous intent in her eyes.

This little brat—sooner or later, she was going to deal with him!

"Leave. Zola needs to rest." Victor pinned Zola down, his voice cold as ever, not sparing her a glance.

No one dared defy Victor's words, and though Luna Warner secretly hated that she hadn't been able to get close to him, she still had to leave, bitter and resentful.

Who was that woman the little brat mentioned, the one who could make this ungrateful little wolf call her "mom"?

She had to investigate thoroughly!

The red Ferrari had been totaled in the crash. Vera dumped the car at a scrapyard and just grabbed another one from the shop to use as a temporary ride.

She opened her front door only to find the house full of smoke, so thick it made her cough nonstop.

"Cough, cough... Chloe Warner! What have you done this time?!"

Vera rushed to open the windows and get fresh air in.

As soon as she spoke, a cute little girl ran out of the bedroom holding a test tube that was billowing smoke!

"Mom, look! My new invention!" Chloe waved the test tube, her big dewy eyes sparkling with excitement. "After this liquid cools, a single whiff can knock out an elephant!"

Vera felt about ready to explode. Why were other girls so obedient and gentle—a mother's little sweetheart—while hers was always up to mischief and causing chaos everywhere!

Forget being a little sweetheart—she was more like a little bomber!

Vera glared at her daughter as Chloe winked and tried to act cute, and she wanted to grab her up and give her a good spanking: "Chloe Warner! I told you—no dangerous experiments in the house!"

Chloe tilted her head, the sly look on her delicate, adorable face undeniable: "Mom, don't forget, all that money in our account comes from my inventions!"

Vera snorted coldly, threatening her daughter without hesitation: "Sweetheart, don't forget—if I say the word, nobody will dare buy your inventions again!"

"Wow—Mom, you're betraying me after taking advantage of me!" Chloe wailed in protest.

Vera snorted, hand like a knife, making a chopping motion: "Clean up your room, or I'll show you what it really means to betray!"

Chloe pouted, sulking as she grabbed the broom: "Mother's heart is the most poisonous of all!"

The mother-daughter pair were bickering raucously, while over at the Morgan family's villa, the atmosphere was frozen stiff.

Victor stared at the crumpled note on the coffee table, barely contained fury between his brows, his expression as cold as a river in winter.

On the note, a single crooked line of big characters.

"I'm going to find my mom! Don't miss me!"

Luna Warner stood opposite him, hardly daring to breathe, terrified of provoking Victor.

Ever since the two came back from the hospital, it was like the father and son were in a cold war. Zola locked himself silently in his room, while Victor returned straight to the office.

Out of Victor's sight, Luna Warner couldn't be bothered with the little brat and simply went out shopping.

Who knew that when she came back that night, the brat had left a note and run away from home!

Luna nervously forced a smile and tried to comfort Victor in a soft voice: "Victor, don't worry. Zola's so smart—he'll be fine."

Victor's gaze was as sharp as a blade as he stabbed her with his words: "You're so sure he'll be fine? What kind of mother can be so calm after her kid runs away, especially when he was just kidnapped this morning!"

Luna's heart skipped a beat, and she shrank back under his chilling glare.

She stammered and explained: "N-no... Of course I'm worried. This morning—when he was kidnapped, you have no idea how scared I was!"

Victor's eyes fell upon the shopping bags littering the floor, his gaze icy and intimidating: "You brought the child home from the hospital and went straight out shopping. That's your idea of being worried?"

He'd seen through this woman ages ago—at heart, she was vain and ruthless to the core!

If the therapist hadn't said the boy needed his biological mother's company while growing up, he'd have thrown her out long ago.

After everything that'd happened today, he loathed her more than ever.

His biological mother? His son would've been better off without her!

"I..."

Victor looked at her as if she were already dead.

Luna was so frightened she couldn't get another word out.

"Get out!"

Victor lost all patience and barked in a low, harsh voice.

Luna hurried upstairs on shaky legs, cursing that little brat a thousand times over in her heart.

If only he would die in that fire, just like that bitch!

She'd thought having the brat would let her marry Victor and become mistress of the Morgan family.

Who knew Victor would only ever acknowledge the brat—not her!

And the brat was strange too, always calling her a bad woman and refusing to recognize her as his mother!

Every time Luna thought about it, she was filled with gnashing hatred.

The brat was just like his mother—both thankless bastards!

"President Morgan! We've found the surveillance footage!"

The butler hurriedly placed a laptop in front of Victor and clicked play.

The video clearly showed Zola, wearing his little sunglasses, a big backpack slung behind him, swaggering out toward the side door. He even waved arrogantly at the camera!

The cold little face was twisted into a mocking grin, as if he was laughing at the house security system.

The alarm hadn't gone off! And the later surveillance footage had been deleted!

Victor's face was so dark it looked ready to drip ink—caught between fury and reluctant amusement.

He really was Victor Morgan's son—running away from home but still disarming the alarm and deleting the security footage!

"Check the hospital surveillance. Find that woman!"
