The body cleaved in two fell heavily into the snow, but thick black sludge poured from the gaping wound, reuniting the two halves of the body. Yet, even so, Ston Osenfort still didn't die, but he was completely unable to move.
The sound of Shard approaching, gasping heavily, reached the ears of the man lying in the snow. His eyes on either side looked towards the night sky turned crimson by the fire as he heard the rhythmic crunch of boots crushing the snowy ground, and then he felt a few pages of paper fall beside him.
"I've learned all about your story with Mrs. Haila Osenfort. I'm curious whether you ever considered solving your problems by other means."
Shard, holding a longsword, looked down at him from on high:
"Maybe this tragedy could have been averted from the beginning."
