Chapter 16 - O

Keeping a puppy was... a commitment, indeed. Freia realised when she had to take care of Sick Boy during their break. She was just thankful that everyone had returned home, including her obnoxious step siblings.

She had specifically requested to stay behind in the academy and Uncle Thome had gleefully approved.

However, it was also a fact that he had received a letter of appointment from the King and had to rush off to settle a "safety threat". Which meant that, that really left Sick Boy and her alone for most parts of the entire break.

That was rather unfortunate for Freia.

Sick Boy had the tendency to fall particularly ill at night and she had to care for him.

It meant she had spent countless nights changing the towel on his head and needing to feed him whatever food that she could gather. Thankfully for Uncle Thome, she didn't really have to worry that much as he had left her with an inventory storage that allowed her to access whatever she needed virtually. It was how this world worked.

She merely had to dip into her mental space clip and withdraw whatever she wanted from that space.

Of course, the mental clip had different sizes - almost like our modern day USB stick. Her wasn't too shabby but it definitely wasn't that spacious either.

Freia rummaged through her mental clip and got out the map that she had magaed to obtain of the academy.

Her brows furrowed as she studied the exits.

Some didn't quite tally with the space that they had and she wondered if there was a secret passage.

it really wouldn't come as too much a shock if it had...

"Cold...," Sick Boy shivered and murmured. His voice broke the silence. Freia quickly kept the map and went towards where Sick Boy was.

If not for the fact that he appeared much more harmless than Kai, she probably couldn't fathom a Kai lookalike in such a fragile state.

His cheeks were flushed and he was wincing in pain. Freia took out some medication from her Inventory - it was abysmal but it was better than nothing. She made a mental note to study herbs and potions more diligently.

Suddenly, something rolled out of Sick Boy's pocket.

She bent to pick it up, her eyes widened when she noticed that it was a rare mental clip - the kind that carried limitless items - this could easily be worth as much as King's vault.

Freia eyed Sick Boy almost gleefully. If she saved him and treated him well,, perhaps, he could come in handy to her in the future too!

Sick Boy coughed and something fell out of the mental clip. It was a potion and Freia eyed it. Sick Boy lifted his face slightly and his hands reached out to the potion weakly but he soon fell back unconscious again.

Freia sighed and lifted the spoon. She tried several ways to feed him and finally decided that she probably had to use the most ridiculous.way to do so. Her mouth. CPR, it's really just like CPR. She's merely trying her best to save a life.

Freia thought and she lowered her lips to Sick Boy's.

Strangely, her mind wandered to the times when Kai had rescued her several times in her missions followed by that fatal blow in her last mission.

What did Kai say...?

That boy with those fathomless eyes.

What were his last words? It sounded a lot like, "I'm sorry". Wasn't she the one who had plunged the knife into him unwittingly?

What was he sorry about then? What was there to be apologetic about?

If there was someone who should apologise, shouldn't she be the one to do so?

Her eyes darkened and her mind felt as though it was imploding into a millions stars. Soon, she collapsed too.
