Chapter 19 - R

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the weak and the weaker," Rola uttered snidely and pushed Freia who was struggling to find a weapon amidst the discarded weapon pile. Everyone had their weapons but she had to borrow hers from the academy's discarded pile that hardly anyone used. Considering the fact that these attendees were nobles or royalty, their own weaponry vault was impressive, if not, excessive. Freia looked at her weapon that she had grabbed - a rusty blade and she quickly tucked it at the side of her ankles before mimicking a fall. Rola rolled her eyes. What an unsightly piece of meat! Her face read.

"Let me help you," a quiet voice murmured and Freia saw that it was another academy student whom she had never seen before. Rola glared at the boy and he smiled. Rola harrumphed and strode away angrily.

"Mind if I tagged along?" the newbie asked and Freia nodded then paused before shaking her head.

"I'm confused, is that a yes or a no?" Newcomer asked and Freia shrugged. "We'll, it depends. Are you going to be a..... burden?"

Ren smiled, "I think that there's a pretty high chance that the two of you will need my help."

Freia studied him for a bit before nodding her head, "Suit yourself... Just don't be another burden."

Outside of the vault, Khai frowned - he was just about to find Freia when he heard those words. "Another burden...huh," he thought, standing in the. shadows. His expression were unreadable. What was he thinking about? He blinked and decided that his plans needn't always be a 10 out of 10, do they? With a quick flick of his wrist, he summoned a weapon that was hidden beneath the ground. It appeared as swiftly as it could - in its humanoid form. It bowed and followed Khai in quiet servitude.

"She thinks that I'm weak. Care to show her what you're made of?" Gesturing, Khai murmured to the servant sword. His voice, almost drowned out within the crowd. However, S heard it loud and clear. S nodded - his boyish appearance showed a faint resemblance to Khai. It was a sword bond. Few would endeavour a sword bond given how complexed the task was. To forge a strong sword

The premise of the annual hunt was such. It was 'no holds barred and everything goes' kinda situation. Basically, anyone could do anything in the entire forest so long as:

1) you're not discovered by the hidden judges

2) you're fast enough to avoid detection

The objective of the game requires the player to obtain the most number or the most valuable kill. And if the mystic forest is anything to go by, then the creatures that exist in this forest are highly mystical and dangerous as well. Freia sighed, great. Humans are dangeorus. Now, the mystic beasts are dangerous too. Is there an end to this? She rubbed her temples tirelessly. She had already decided that the best defence was.... not to hide.

She probably had to go in on the offense as quickly as she could and eliminate as many key members as she could. Looking at her hands, they haven't seen bloodshed in a long while. She grimaced, not at the thought of spilling blood but, at the fact that it was a cumbersome and tedious process. One that she sincerely hoped that she wouldn't have to go through.

Yet, if. she really needed to. Why not? Perhaps, it has been a tad far too long. Hasn't it?
