Oleg supervised the destruction of the needles. As I got better people started staring more often. I sat on the swing to have a moment. Oleg rocked it back and forth. I was about to space out when I sensed a Vamperuf. I silently requested everyone to get inside. The clouds covered the sun and it came out to attack. I waited till it was within range and screamed. It fell backwards and started to shaking violently. It called out in agony. Soon it was gasping for air and spat out blood. I was pretending to be weak. But still I walked over very slowly and cut off it's head. Then I calmly walked back to the mansion. I held on as I went upstairs and sat in the library. A young girl came in requesting a moment of my time. I quickly scanned and found a knife. Roland and Serena came running. They managed to reach me before the girl got to stab me. She was taken to the basement for interrogation. She explained that she did a test and found out she was negative. She was not amongst those who could change. She would be amongst those who would die. She was hoping my blood would be in her favor. She was shown the poison I drink to make sure I am off limits. She was pissed.
The lady in the lab coat came back and she saw the deadly nightshade. She wasn't pleased. She asked me to stop taking it. I told her to get a life. She explained that she plans to use my blood to cure mortality. She needs my consent to draw blood. I smiled, "I have spent almost a thousand years being part of the solution. I am not going to be part of the next round of problems. Stop building diseases in labs and stop suspecting everyone is a threat." She huffed, "I am not asking you to bring the next apocalypse. I am asking you to help me to make everyone immortal." I tilted my head, "Why me?" Jesse was equally curious, "Yes. Why her? Why not one of us. Is it because she has immunity to our poison? Or because she can repel the zombies." She made the mistake of blurting out, "She commands you all. She is the apex predator. We scientist always go for the toughest. After all we can't get strong from taking samples from weak specimens." She realized her blunder and tried to apologize. The vampires happily hypnotized her to leave. I sat down to eat berries and a human servant asked me, "Why didn't you hypnotize her?" I simply said, "I didn't feel the need to do so"
I stared out the window and as my hair changed to red and my skin became flawless. I didn't want to be a member of the law enforcers. I had a bad feeling so I just admired the view. When my appearance became less monster and more human I walked into the library and read a book. Ollie and Jesse came to tell me that I didn't appear to be a monster in any disguise. I was touched. The next batch of humans came and asked me when I was moving to a different location. I explained that I am not interested. I am happy here. I will move when I am threatened to safe place unknown. They stood still for a second and asked if the military would be aware of the location. I explained, "I don't trust the military. They will not be informed" they insisted that I move. I asked if the military was planning to bombard this area after they said it was a safe zone. They didn't say anything. Jesse ushered them out and I extended the shield. Ollie watched from the window as an invisible bench scraper pushed them away to a certain distance. Everyone agreed that my shield should extend to a certain distance. Not more than that.
The military sent a message asking if it could extend further. The answer was no. They didn't like the response so they sent a convoy to move me to central command post in the white house. I asked them to broadcast this meeting to the public so they can't make stuff up later. When they came I refused to go. They reminded me that this is a war. I reminded them, "You encouraged this. You unleashed them into the crowd. People are dead because of you." One of the men retorted arrogantlyp, "You were asleep. How do you know we did it." I smiled, "I have the person who did it in the dungeons awaiting trial. I will hand him over once the public is informed." His face went white as a sheet, "We will lose credibility if you do" I smiled, "You should have thought of that before you decided to play God" they stared for a second and called it in. The order was simple, "Shoot everyone and bring her here" I didn't give them a moment to act. I screamed before their brain processed the order.
They fell to the floor and I ordered Ollie to bring the traitor here so everyone can see. They went to get him as I kept the soldiers subdued on the floor. He was dragged and he informed everyone how he had let the Vamperuf in to corral the public. He explained where he hid the evidence and the public went to get it. They saw proof and he was dragged through the streets. The police shot him outside the White House. The public voiced their displeasure and the army apologized. They apologized for trying to murder my family as well. They asked me nicely if I would move to the Pentagon where I would well guarded. I refused. My fate is the same as my family. I extended my shield to cover the Nocturnal quarters only. The soldiers sent a psychologist in the hopes helping my psyche. Her thesis was it would extend to the entire DC area with the right motivation. I smiled as I asked her to leave. She was escorted to her transport and she reported that I had no interest in her assistance. The humans sent their families to work in the Nocturnal zones. They were particularly careful. A few of their own has already caused enough trouble.
I moved to the Burrow and people flooded the house. A Vamperuf came out of the sewers on the far end of the street. I fought it using hand to hand combat. After a while I snapped it's neck and threw it away. More came out to attack so I requested a machete. I was given a samurai sword. I did a pose I saw in a poster before I moved at lightening fast speed and beheaded them all. Then I took a different pose before I bowed and walked back in. Oleg was laughing while Roland asked me not to do that. He really believes it would provoke people. I did remember the day when Abe was the Emperor. There was a case of show and tell. I joked it was a case of my horse is bigger than your horse. I killed more zombies than their so called designated supersoldier. They were so furious that one of them tried to shoot me. Roland nod his head, "You see what I mean. Just show off when it is us. Not in front of them."
I gave him a thumbs up before sitting down to absorb some vitamin D. Everyone was surprised by Roland's maturity. He ignored them as he stared at the horizon for disaster. Serena and her sisters came to guard me as the sunset so Oleg and the others can change into wolves and roam the grounds. All humans were sent home. Some stayed in their cars and watched the shift change. Others found out in the morning. They had so many questions. They hounded the nearest one till they got their answers. They asked me why I won't change my resident. I showed them the plans for induce panic and they informed the public. I refused to move so I will not be framed thus losing my liberty and freedom. They were aware of the possibility. But they were sure they can keep safe. But I still chose to stay home. I made sure to be surrounded by people all the time. I made sure to spend less time outside. I had several requests to go out but I stayed home. They will have to drag me out.
