Chapter 7 - Emotions

"So exactly how long do you think we have before Antitor starts his attack, " Keith asked worried that they didn't have much time.

"Well it's not as simple as that, when Dimiour created earth he made a protective barrier around earth such that Antitor wouldn't interfere with man but since he now has the power of creation, he can create something that can rip the barrier open but I'm not sure how long it would take for him to do that, " Damian said.

"That means we should start training as soon as possible," Keith said, "we're lucky it's a weekend so I'll be free the whole day."

"What! You don't have any plans on a Saturday," Damian said sarcastically.

"No, not really, but now that you've mentioned it, I usually go somewhere on Saturdays and I think it will be the best spot for training." Keith said heading into back into the bathroom.

"Woah! how did you stumble upon this place," Damian said coming out the back of Keith's head. Keith had taken them to an abandoned warehouse in the outskirts of the city, it had a dome shaped roof with the inside being pretty clear save for some scraps and polythene and the walls had been vandalized a bit. "And what would you come here to do?" he continued.

"I found it while I was wandering through the city and I come here to do... stuff," Keith said trying to dismiss the subject.

"What stuff?" Damian said intrigued.

"It's nothing,"

"Fine don't tell me, but when I get back into your head I'll just find the memory,"

"Wait! What! " Keith said.

"Oh don't worry, I'm just joking," Damian said, "I already have all your memories,"

"Since when do you have all my memories,"

"Since I entered your body, so there is no point in hiding things from me,"

"If you already know, why do you want to hear me say it so much," Keith asked.

"Because you need to become more assertive, who cares if you like singing in a warehouse, I know the acoustics are great but you don't use that as an excuse to avoid people,"

"I don't know who cares, but it's still scary," Keith said nervously.

"Listen kid, life is scary and I'm not going to lie, what's about to happen is going to be a whole lot scarier and you are going to have to be brave otherwise you won't survive," Damian said.

"Well I didn't choose this, I didn't choose to be the one who has to face some cosmic being who will most likely kill me,"

"Well not with that attitude, you need to face your fears head on, what are you so afraid of, tell me, " Damian asked.

"What do you mean, I'm not afraid, " Keith said confused.

"I'm not talking about right now, I'm talking about you, your life, your decisions, why are you so scared? "

"I don't know," Keith said awkwardly.

"That's not good enough, you know, you are just afraid to tell me," Damian insisted.

"I'm telling you, I'm don't know." Keith said getting a bit nervous.

"Why are you scared to tell me," Damian asked while getting closer to Keith.

"No I'm not, it's just... ," Keith said stumbling back almost falling down.

"Then tell me," Damian said.

"I don't know,"

"TELL ME! " Damian barked his voice getting loud and aggressive.

"I'M AFRAID I'LL NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH, OKAY!" Keith shouted back standing his ground and finally opening up, his eyes watery with tears. He could swear he heard Damian mutter the word *pathetic* under his breath.

"Well you are good enough, you should just stop doubting yourself," Damian said, "even if it weren't you to get this power, this fear would have taken you nowhere,"

"It's not that easy to overcome,"

"It is, you just have to push yourself, don't let yourself fall short of what you are capable of."

"Why are we even talking about this," Keith said trying to change the subject.

"You are not going to get anywhere with mastering your powers when all you do is doubt yourself," Damian said, "Your fear will prevent you from seeing what you are truly capable of. "

"Do you really think I have the ability to do this," Keith said unsure of himself at that moment.

"I do, but you need to have more faith in yourself, you cannot let those emotions pull you down, okay," Damian said in a reassuring voice.

"Okay, thanks for believing in me," Keith said wiping his eyes and feeling a little better about himself.

"It's what I was made to do," Damian said and then continued as if he had reverted back to his previous personality, "now that we've cleared that up, we can start on your real training which should be much easier now,"

Keith wondered how Damian was able to switch from being so kind and considerate back to being so snarky in just a couple of seconds, "My job is to help you, that means I will have to change when needed in order to help you learn faster," Damian said to him. Keith just smiled, it was gonna be hard getting used to sharing a mind with someone, but he would make it work.
