Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

Valorum's team trudged through the forest, hearing the screams and cries from the battlefield. They were moving quickly, trying to reach their rendezvous. The mission: flank the army and disrupt the enemies flow of battle providing an opportunity for the Internian army to advance.

The heavily shaded forest lit up, as they reached the edge of the forest. The group saw the groupings of archers and mages stationed at the back.

"Ready you're magic, then be ready to move" Valorum spoke briefly, and then readied his own magic spell.

Mana flooded out of Valorum and his men, including Lore. Lore fired his spell off, and rushed forward; he and his other soldiers charged forward.

Lore, and all the others eradicated huge groupings of enemy soldiers, and the burnt corpses crunched under foot.

"The enemy flanked us! Get into formation, and protect our rear guard. Vanguard, move to us and protect the remaining long range troops." Screeched out a centaur looking Daemon officer. A horde of monsters stormed towards Valorum and his troops.

Lore had a sword in both hands, and began swinging methodically, but with a sense of wild passion.

Valorum held a massive greatsword, and when he would swing it, he would cleave not just one, but multiple monsters completely in half.

The Centau looking creature galloped in front of Valorum before scoffing and swinging its spear at Valorum's throat. The two groups engaged in a ferocious battle, both sides experiencing casualties.

Blood spilled, and began to soak the field.

Thousands of bodies lay strewn all about, and the battle didn't seem to be slowing down in the slightest.

Lore was panting as he continued his onslaught through the enemy force. Valorum, bruised and cut up stood over the Centaur creature before removing his sword from its chest.

Esper could be seen watching over the battle, and raised her hand. She then signaled for more Generals to enter the fight.

Esper then looked over her shoulder. A humanoid Daemon rode atop a lesser manticore sat next to her. "Release the Elder Wyrm. Do it now" As those words left her mouth, the eyes of the underling began quaking. "Y-y-yes my queen, as you command". The Daemon slunk away, and then relayed the message. In the rear of the encampment, a giant snake looking monster lay coiled on the ground. Head of a dragon, with the long body of a snake. Once released, the wyem writhed its way forward towards the enemy. It looked as if the wings on the back of the Wyrm were clipped or torn, removing is flight capabilities. It wriggled and writhed it's way to the front where it immediately whipped its tail like a physical whip, and ripped apart anything is its path. Screams of agony erupted from both sides of the battle as this humongous creature rattled the battlefield.

From the internian encampment sounded a horn as the Wyrm creature barreled along the fields.

From far away, a thunderous roar splintered the air. Then a heavy beating noise.

Thawump! Thawump! Thawump!

Every soul seemed to have stopped in their tracks. Staring in the direction of what sounded like a beating heart in their ears; they all witnessed a giant Elder Wyvern breaching the crest of a mountain.

Standing aloft the dragon stood a man in crimson armor, with hair nearly as crimson. Shouts erupted from the internian soldiers; a name, and the name they kept repeating was Barti, or Bartholomew the Brave. He was known as the strongest of the Knight Kings, even earning himself the nickname The Unbroken.

Bartholomew leapt from the Wyvern, and plummeted towards the earth, when landing he crushed the spine of a ten foot minotaur. He then walked casually toward the Elder Wyrm. As he approached he began chanting a spell under his breathe.

From under his breathe, to almost a roar Bartholomew exclaimed "Face my might, and beholden my power. Crimson Annihilation!" streaming from his body a huge pool of mana formed in front of him that immediately unleashed a gigantic column of plasmatic fire. The column nearly had the diameter of a ten foot circle, and when it came it contact with the wyrm's skin its body evaporated. The singe and burning of flesh crackled as the lifeless, headless body of the Elder Wyrm fell over. A trench formed from the sheer force of the spell, and in the distance a huge crater formed in the side of a mountain as is completely crumpled. Now more of a hill than a mountain.

Esper witnessed the terrifying power of this new challenger. She then looked over her shoulder at an armored Giant halfling. "Korush, stomp them. eradicate them". Korush nodded his head and leapt toward Batholomew, roaring at the armored man. Korush swung his massive arm wielding two war axes. The blade slammed into Barti who planned to block it easily but found himself sent flying across the ground, leaving behind a giant gorge.
