Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

Lore's journey would take a few weeks, on top of his hunt for the wyrm. The roarous clomping of Lore's stallion filled Lore's ear. It began to drown out any other noise, and all Lore could see was the road ahead as the man on horseback galloped through the countryside. It felt strange to Lore to be alone, the last few years were full of people flooding his life. His mind flooded with memories, from where he started this journey, to his time training with Koba. His horrific battle with the Snow Demon Lion, and the effort it took to grow from that.

Lore reminisced of his battle against the Daemon, and how powerful even a low rank one was. Lore shuddered at the thought of how strong the Daemon, that Lord Bartholomew fought, was.

How long would Lore have to train? Lore had come a long way but he felt there was almost an insurmountable gap between him and the Knight Kings. Lore felt his heart swell as he thought of every person who had supported him along his arduous journey. Most recently, Valorun was completely backing Lore, and before that Koba seemed taken to him as an apprentice. His time spent is Psi and his family, learning the ways of the Knight and training with a sword. Sneaking in and out of Psi's father's study and learning low tier magic.

From the beginning up until this moment, Lore had been moving forward, pushing past what he ever thought were his limits.

As the sun set in the western horizon, Lore slowed his pace and found a clearing to camp for the night. He tied his horse to a tree, surrounded by tall grass. He started a fire and pulled a loaf of bread from his pack. Laying on his pack; Lore stared up at the twinkling stars, some brighter, some bigger, some red ot green. Seas of purple and orange soared through the sky. Lore was transfixed, wondering what lay in the realm above them. "I'm going to soar through the heavens one day' Lore quietly spoke to himself.

As Lore traveled he saw new plant life and animals, flowers as tall as trees sprouted everywhere, petals creating odd shapes in the sun. A beaver looking beaver crossed Lore path one day, however it was the size of a hunting dog. One afternoon while hunting for his dinner, Lore caught a bunny so large it reached his knees, and made the most succulent stew.

After several days a hurred travel, and another five of slow, sluggish pace, and Lore found himself at the edge of a dark forest, the trees were dead, the leaves lay across the entire forest floor. Lore dismounted all his gear from his saddle, and tied his horse up to a tree. He made camp for the day, deciding it better to rest before fully entering the wyrms lair.

Ominous noises rang out from the forests, the hooting of owls, crunching of leaves, howls and growls of unknown origin, and under all that a low tremoring thudding noise; like the methodical footsteps of a lumbering beast.

As darkness encroached on the twilight the noises of the forest intensified, and Lore threw more wood atop the fire, making sure the flame would last through the night. Lore made up a quick bed, propped himself against a tree with his sword resting in his arms. Before his eyes grew too heavy he whispered an alertment spell that would awaken him if anything entered a fifteen foot radius of him. His eyes drooped low and the day finally ended for Lore.

Lore dreamt vividly of riding atop a giant dragon, his fingertips scraping the sky. In his dream the sky was like the ocean, his fingers breached the starlight sky like water, and splashed around his hand. Lore tugged up on the dragons reigns and submerged them inside the ocean of sky and stars, Lore could swear he could feels the stars hit his skin as he swam through the scenery. He could breathe fine, and he found himself grabbing the stars which fizzled out in his hand and the ashes got dragged away in the waters

As Lore was just finding himself lost in his dream, truly unwilling to wake up, he felt the warmth of the sun hit his face, and Lore's eyes slowly opened to a new dawn.
