Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Lore rushed into the main building of the fort. What lay in wait was more monsters inside, and beyond that Lore saw a monster sitting on a throne, but he lost the view as the door swung shut.

Encircled by monsters, Lore grinned, then cast another Lightning spell, Chain Sparks. Sparks leapt from his fingertips, and blue light ensnared the monsters in his vicinity. Ghouls, Goblins, Wraiths, Lycanthropes, Beastmen, Shrills, and so on. All sorts of monsters were here in this entrance like room. Lore expertly maneuvered his way through the horde. His sword slicing through the flesh of these monsters, and blood geysered out from their wounds. Lore chanted and enveloped a group of monsters in flames; dashing towards the flaming monsters, Lore horizontally slashed out powerfully. The air whistled as the sword cleaved through it, and eventually met with the soft flesh of the monsters.

Lore stood, covered in blood, as the final body of a Lycanthrope fell to the ground, its head rolling across the room. Lore took a rejuvenating tincture and drank it down quickly. A soothing, cold feeling enveloped him as his aches and pains disappeared. To increase his ability lore separated his two swords, and then made his way towards the door where he saw the throned Daemon. He reinforced his body with magic, prepared a Fireball, and then exploded the door open. Soaring the fireball towards the Daemon on the throne, Lore engaged all the smaller monsters in the room.

The Daemon brushed off the magic attack, while it's armor singed slightly. The Darmon sat upon its throne. In Daemon social structure, this particular Daemon practically ranked at the bottom. He watched the Knight struggle and fuss, killing off his weakling underlings. His expression remained the same, denoting how disinterested he was in his underlings well-being. He stood from his throne, and all the monsters seemingly stopped fighting Lore and retreated to the edge of the room.

Lore looked around confused. the remaining monsters scattered to the side of the room. The throned Daemon rose and slowly walked towards Lore. Lore raised his guard and combined his two swords together. Lore could tell he was out-matched here, and started to slowly back up. If Lore pushed past his limits he may possibly come out of this alive.

The Daemins lips curl, and it mockingly laughed at Lore. Lore couldn't speak their language but he could tell he was being called a coward.

Lore wanted to lead the leader either into the large hall or outside where he had more room to manuever. The Daemon showed little interest in Lore's plan, however it did follow him out into the larger room. Once Lore broke the threshold, he enhanced his physical abilities to the max. Left foot in-front of his right, his right foot landed and he spun on his heel, dashing towards the leader. Diagonally swinging, Lore brought his entire blade down along the Daemons forearm as it blocked. It's eyes grew wider as the blade broke through its armor and then sliced through its skin. Dark, nearly black blood dripped from its fingers as blood ran from its injury. Lore knew it was too soon for celebrating, however he felt elated at the damage he dealt to the Daemon. The Daemon drew its weapon and began swinging viciously at Lore's neck.

Cling Clang, Clang, Cling, Shing

Blades clashed, and sparks flew as Lore and this Daemon traded blow for blow. Any damage inflicted onto the Daemon was reciprocated back to Lore, and they both wound up nearly equal in abilities. Lore's training with the sword, and his new training with Valorum seemed to be paying off. Lore cast a litany of spells, Chain Spark, Flame Arrow, Fireball, and so on. As the magic of the Daemon weakened, the magic damage accumulated on its body.

Lore was bleeding, znd could feel his limbs going numb, but he could tell his opponent was weakening too. Lore roared in anger and increased the verocity of his attacks. His sword made contact with the shoulder of the Daemon, a huge gash spreading from shoulder to hip erupted with blood, and the Daemon gasped. It felt bewildered by its loss, the Daemon screeches out in madness as its mouth filled with blood, and it fell to its knees. Its breathing stopped as it suffocated on its own blood.

Lore, panting like a dying dog, used his sword to prop himself up, his body heavy and unable to really move. The monsters in the throne room panicked and scattered out of the fortress, retreating further into the forest.
