Chapter 22 - Stark Contrast

The following day Lore walked around this labrythinian mansion. Vaulted ceilings in every room, chandeliers hung majestically, retracting the light that shone through. Metal panels slide up and down to hide or reveal the windows. Electricity crackled around the crystal shaped light sources. Lore could sense light magical particles emitting from the light source.

A silent servant approached from behind and startled Lore "Excuse me, Sir. The Master would like to see you in the training grounds. I'll will lead you there if you don't mind". The elderly man spoke softly, but his demeanor seemed that of one who had lived a long and full life. His skin was like leather, a scar crossed his left eye, and his posture was immaculate.

When Lore woke up this morning his belongings were missing. Weighted clothing, weighted boots, weighted everything, even his armor had an extra thirty pounds. Back to Lore and Valorum's servant strode down the hall, except for every ten steps the servant took, Lore took maybe two.

An hour later Lore finally made it to the training field. Valorum burst into laughter as he saw Lore enter "HAHAHA I see you found my present. You will wear weighted clothing for the duration of your time here. Valorum then tossed a sword to Lore. Grabbing by the handle Lore's entire body got pulled downward. "Even this sword is weighted? This man is crazy!" Lore thought to himself and stood straight. "For today, stand here and keep that sword held in a ready position. When your arms give out rest for ten minutes. Continue this until sun fall." Valorum didn't wait for Lore to respond he just began departing. "Gaile, take care of our guest, do not disturb his training however." Valorum said this as he walked through a door.

So, for the entire day Lore stood directly under the sun, it's rays beating down on him. Hours on end, Lore held this extremely heavy sword in front of his chest until his shoulders would scream at him internally. Initially, Lore held the word for two hours, and after his break it was an hour and forty-five minutes. As the sun began to fall, Lore could hardly hold the sword for more than twenty minutes. Gaile the butler approached with water and towel in hand. "We shall be joining Master in the dining hall. Shall I escort you, Sir?" Gaile spoke softly, but his voice was still deep. Lore hung his sword up, and followed behind Gaile.

Once they arrived Lore noticed how much smaller this dining hall was compared to Koba's.

A medium sized round table sat in the middle of this cozy room with eight or seats around it. A spread of various food lay out before Lore. Valorum looked up at Lore and greeted him with a large smile. "So, how was that, Lad? Tougher than you were expecting I bet? Can you even move your arms?" Valorum laughed as he questioned Lore. "My shoulders feel like they might rip, my hands feel permanently closed, and my forearms are like rocks and cramped." Lore sat down and barely lifted his arms onto the table as he spoke.

"Bwahahah.. cough cough cough," Valorum burst into laughter but was mid-bite and started to choke. He grabbed the pitcher of ale and downed it to unclog his throat. "Cough, whewww that was funny kid. You'll do those exercise once a week for the nest three years. As time passes. it'll get heavier. You'll also study while you are hear, not only your magic, but scholarly studies as well. I hear your affinity is with fire?" Valorum's voice still surprised Lore. "I seem to have the affinity for most elemental magics, my understanding is mostly with fire right now." Lore spoke and then cast the spell Sparks, and a small fountain of lightning shot out of his hand. "This is my only lightning spell in my arsenal." Lore put away his hand, dispelling the magic. Valorum pulled out a dusty blue spell tome and handed it over to Lore. "Fire and lightning are similar in that they both are destructive forces. Fire engulfs and burns away, lightning penetrates and evaporates. Lore, this tome will teach you to funnel and channel lightning throughout your whole body. Gaile, open the window towards the coast, I'd like to demonstrate without killing anyone" Valorum spoke as he raised a hand up towards the window Gaile was opening. "Lightning is pure energy and light, and when you condense and focus it, it can become one of the most powerful magics." As Valorum said this he released the built up magic in his hand. The magic itself looked like hundreds of lightning bolts twisted and tangled together, and when released they shot out like a racing beam of light. Lore followed the pathing of the attack, everything that came into contact with the spell was evaporated out of existence. Large boulders were missing huge portions of themselves. "That my lad was Ultimate Lightning Magic: Rail-gun"
