"Hey, hey, HEY! What the hell is going on?! Did those guys just kill two bosses in one day?! Someone pinch me—this has to be a dream! What kind of madness is this?!"
"Wasn't there already a group fighting the Shadow Wolf? How are these two nobodies swooping in again?!"
"We were fighting it—but our party leader betrayed us! He killed all of us so he could solo the boss. Well, look at him now—rotting on the ground. Good riddance! If I see him again, I'll kill him myself. His name? SkyStriker. Hope someone guts him the second they spot him."
Back at the battlefield, Beng was practically bouncing with glee.
"Mu! Look at this haul! I'm on cloud nine! That guy did all the work for us—brought the boss to 2%—and then we just waltzed in for the kill! Did you see his face? Priceless! Puhahahaha!"
"Same here," Mu Lan said, grinning. "I was so excited I didn't even read the loot notification—I just dumped everything into my inventory. You probably did the same."
"Puhahaha! I can't stop laughing! That look on his face—absolute rage!"
"Hey!" a furious voice cut in. "I've got four minutes until I respawn! Don't you dare leave! The second I'm back, I'm killing you both! Got the guts to stick around, or are you just cowards? That boss was MINE!"
Mu Lan turned to the corpse with mock innocence.
"Excuse me—but what 'right' are you talking about? Weren't you the one who betrayed your own party? If someone does the same to you, isn't that just karma? And kill us? Please. Even if you gathered every player on the server, you couldn't touch us. Now, if you'll excuse us—we're heading to town. Feel free to start recruiting. SkyStriker."
With that, Mu Lan opened his inventory—and froze.
There it was.
A Skill Book.
He blinked. Rubbed his eyes. Closed and reopened his inventory.
It was still there.
How…? The drop rate is 1 in 10,000… and I just got one? Again?
Then he saw the title—and burst out laughing.
Even Beng was stunned. Mu Lan doesn't laugh like this. Ever.
"Mu! What's so funny?!"
"If I don't laugh, who will?!" Mu Lan wheezed. "I just got a Skill Book—and it's perfect for my class! Wait till you see this!"
He tapped the book.

"Ready, Beng? Watch closely—I'm using it now."
"Stop teasing! Show me already!"
Mu Lan activated the skill.
A spectral wolf materialized at his feet—smaller than the boss, but radiating the same eerie presence.
"Hah! Mu—you called me lucky? Look at you! I didn't get a skill—I got 10 Copper and a Shadow Wolf Pelt! Where's my luck?!"
"Puhahaha!" Mu Lan clapped him on the back. "You think that pelt's worthless? Wait till I show you how valuable it really is. But first—let's head to town and stash our loot. Deal?"
"HEY!" SkyStriker's voice screeched from the corpse. "I'm still here! Stop whispering like I can't hear you! And stop laughing like that! That wolf was MINE! You've got three minutes—if I don't see you when I respawn, I'll hunt you across the server!"
Mu Lan sighed. "Oh, you're still not respawned? Tsk tsk. And you're threatening us? Tell you what—before you come after us, maybe worry about the 29 people you betrayed. If they don't kill you first… well, good luck."
Ignoring the fuming corpse, the two set off toward the city—
Beng, the proud Paladin, walking with newfound swagger…
Mu Lan, the Archer, now accompanied by a ghostly wolf.
But Mu Lan quickly dismissed the wolf—it drew too much attention.
As it vanished, a tiny notification appeared:
[Shadow Wolf – Current Progress: 0.1%]
