Chapter 28 - Silvers

Beng Zeng arrived at the Player Market and immediately opened the vendor interface. He listed the potions exactly as Mu Lan instructed:

Beginner's Boss Protection Potions at 50 Copper eachAdvanced Boss Protection Potions at 5 Silver each

They hadn't crafted any Intermediate potions yet—but it didn't matter. One Advanced potion was worth two Intermediate anyway.

The market was packed. Players crowded around the NPC vendor, trying to sell their meager loot or trade scraps of Copper for anything useful. Everyone was scraping by—so when someone spotted the potion listings, chaos erupted.

"Hey! Hey! Someone just listed potions on the market! Not just any price—these are actually worth it! If I had the cash, I'd buy one in a heartbeat!"

"What are you talking about? What potions?"

"Open the vendor! Go to the Potions tab! You won't believe what you see!"

A moment later:

"Wait—there's an Advanced one too?! 5 Silver?! Quick—alert the guild! We're pooling all our Copper! We're going boss hunting today!"

"No way… Who even knows how to craft this?!"

"Doesn't matter—we're buying it before anyone else does!"

"T*********… who are you? Tell us your secret! Our whole guild can't brew a single decent potion, and you're selling Advanced ones?! Join us!"

The buzz thrilled Beng—partly because it was Mu Lan's work being praised, and partly because, in his heart, they were brothers. They hadn't been born into the same family, but fate had bound them tighter than blood.

He switched to whisper.

"Mu, the market's going wild! Everyone thinks I'm the crafter! How's your brewing going? Any progress on skill advancement?"

"I've only managed 15 Beginner potions so far," Mu Lan replied. "But thanks to my bonus output, I got double batches most times—so I've got 10 more crafting attempts left. What about sales? Check the market. At least the 50-Copper potions should've sold by now. Once you confirm, buy more Yellowlung, Pinklung, and—if you can find it—Green Herb too. It boosts potion potency. Oh, and keep a few Copper in your vials for safekeeping."

"Got it."

Beng opened the market again—and grinned.

All Beginner potions were sold out. The Advanced ones hadn't sold yet—buyers were still pooling funds.

After the 10% commission, he now had 1 Silver and 35 Copper.

He checked herb prices:

Yellowlung Herb: 1 CopperPinklung Herb: 1 CopperGreen Herb: 1 Copper

Perfect.

"Mu, I've got 1 Silver 35 Copper. All herbs are 1 Copper each. How many of each should I buy? And how many vials?"

"Hmm… With that, get 33 of each: 33 Yellowlung, 33 Pinklung, 33 Green Herb… and 33 glass vials. That's 1 Silver 32 Copper. You'll have 3 Copper left—we'll figure that out later. Hurry back."

As Beng prepared to buy, players nearby started shouting:

"Doesn't anyone want to trade Copper for credits? I'll give 100 credits per Copper!"

"Pfft—1,000 credits! Bring your Copper—I'll take it all!"

Beng ignored them, purchased the materials, and headed straight for Wayne's shop—leaving behind a crowd scrambling to buy the remaining Advanced potions with real money.

When he stepped into Wayne's store, the merchant greeted him warmly.

"Ah! If it isn't my favorite customer! Where's your friend? What brings you back so soon?"

"Mu's busy brewing," Beng said. "I'm here for 33 glass vials."

Wayne stroked his chin. "Hmm… I've got 40 vials left in stock. If you're buying 33, why not take the last 6 too? I'll sell them to you for just 3 extra Copper."

Beng whispered to Mu:

"Mu, I'm at Wayne's. He's got 40 vials left. He's offering the last 6 for 3 Copper. Should I just buy 33… or grab all 40?"

Mu Lan laughed.

"Are you kidding? Of course buy them all! And don't just ask—demand it. I bet clearing his stock triggers a special reward."

Beng turned back to Wayne.

"Deal! I've got exactly 3 Copper to spare. Give me all 40 vials."

Wayne beamed. "Shake on it! From now on, you two are my VIP customers. All your purchases here get a permanent 10% discount!"

[Ding!]
