Title: First Boss

[Yes] / [No]

"Mu!" Beng exclaimed. "We just killed the first boss on the entire server! It's asking if it should broadcast our names. Should we hide them for now?"

"Yeah," Mu Lan said firmly. "Keep it quiet."

He clicked [No].

A system message appeared—but their names were censored:

[System Announcement]

The boss monster "Rainbow Spider" has been slain by players G********* and S********.

Across the server, players erupted in confusion.

"Who the hell are these guys?! How can two people kill a boss? We've got fifty of us stuck on one, and we can't even scratch it!"

"Calm down, Bin Ölüm. They probably got lucky. There's no way two nobodies beat a boss we can't. More likely, a hundred players chipped away at it, and these two just landed the final hit."

"You're probably right… Still, let's gather a proper raid group. If bosses can be soloed, we need to figure out how."

Back in Solitary Valley, Beng grinned.

"Hahahaha, Mu—we're famous! What boss are we hunting next?"

"Before we go further," Mu Lan said, "let's stash everything we just looted in the bank. If we die again, we might lose gear. Speaking of which—what did we actually get?"

"I got a title and a Skill Book," Beng said.

"No way! That's amazing! I only got copper. What's the Skill Book? Tell me fast!"

"I don't get why you're so hyped," Beng said, confused. "It's just Defense."

"You lucky bastard!" Mu Lan laughed. "Do you have any idea how rare Skill Books are? The drop rate is 1 in 10,000—and you got one from the very first boss on the server! Every Paladin out there would kill for this!"

"Alright, alright," Beng chuckled. "I'll learn it right now."

"Mu, what's this 'Current Progress' thing? And the cooldown's 5 minutes, but the buff only lasts 1?"

"Every time you use the skill, it levels up," Mu Lan explained, eyes gleaming. "Eventually, it could evolve into Advanced Defense—maybe even reduce its cooldown over time. That's insane power for a Level 0 Paladin!"

"Now let's check that title."

[Title: First Boss]

+10% damage vs. boss monsters+5% Critical Hit Chance, +20 Strength+20 Agility+20 Defense+20 Intelligence

"Hahahaha!" Beng burst out laughing. "Look at this title, Mu! Not only did we get stats across the board, but we also got a Skill Book on top! It's like the game's handing us a golden ticket to farm every boss today!"

"Exactly!" Mu Lan grinned. "Now, let's head back to town and deposit our loot."

"Wait," Beng said, frowning. "Didn't we drop anything? I only see copper."

"Right—nothing dropped," Mu Lan confirmed. "And even the copper is safe. At Level 0, you don't lose currency on death. Only gear can drop—but since we didn't get any, we're fine."

He explained further:

"At Level 0, the game protects new players. If you lost everything on death, no one could progress. So copper stays. But gear can still drop—which means if you buy something and die, you might have to rebuy it with real money. That's why smart players stash early loot in the bank."

"Got it," Beng nodded. "Then let's skip town for now. If we kill another boss and get real gear, then we'll deposit it."

"Perfect."

"Oh—hey, Mu," Beng said suddenly. "Let me try using my new skill! How do I activate it?"

"Look at the top-left corner—see your name? Click it. Your skill should appear in the menu below. Just tap it."

"Clicking now…"

A soft golden light descended from the sky, wrapping around Beng. For a moment, his shield glowed brighter.

"Check the skill progress!" Mu Lan urged.

Beng opened the menu.

"It went up! 0.1%!"

Mu Lan smiled.

"Every drop of power starts with a single step. And today… we've taken our first leap."
