Chapter 22 - Day 4 (I)

When I woke up, my fever was not that high and I was sweating profusely. I checked the time from my phone and I woke up immediately because it was already 9 in the morning. Sheena and Axel were no longer in the room.

"I'm glad that I'm already fine. Thank you, Lord!" I said enthusiastically.

I even danced to make me sweat even more. I just stopped dancing when I heard a knock on the door so I quickly opened it.

"Hi." Marvin greeted me from outside our room.

I fixed my messy hair. "H-Hey." Then I smiled awkwardly at him.

I flinched when Marvin suddenly put his hand on my forehead. I'm just staring at his handsome face. He looks like an angel sent from above.

"Are you okay now?" Marvin asked while looking straight into my eyes.

"Y-Yes because you're already here." We laughed together. I have a lot of pickup lines but I can't use them now. Maybe, next time.

"You're crazy." He said, chuckling.

"Hmmm... Did you start the activities?" I asked.

"Not yet. We're waiting for you." Marvin said.

My eyes widened because of what he said. They were waiting for me but my roommates didn't wake me up?

"B-But why didn't they wake me up?" I asked, but not for him but myself.

Are they my friends?!

I understand why they did do that. They just want to give me some rest.

"W-Wait just give me five minutes. I'll fix myself first." I said before I rummaged through my belongings.

"All right. We'll wait for you outside but before that, you should eat your breakfast first and take your med." Marvin reminded me before he left our room.

I'm now in a hurry to fix myself and after I put on my rash guard I left our room. I ate quickly in the dining area and ran outside of the hotel. I hadn't even gotten close to them when Wade approached me. He's walking along with me.

"Louise." He called my name.

"What?" I sounded annoyed.

"Why are you mad at me?" Wade asked.

"I'm not. I just don't know how to talk with you. It's been 7 years since our last conversation. It feels like you're a stranger again." I said looking ahead.

"I missed you. I've never left you. Trust me, you're always on my mind." Wade said.

"You flirt!" I hit his head. "While you're in a relationship, I'm still on your mind? That's insane, Wade."

"Just let me finish to what I'm saying. You're still on my mind, but I love my girlfriend at that time. You're JUST my friend." He emphasized the JUST.

I glared at him. "You moron! I know that. I won't allow myself again to fall in love with you."

He just laughed at me. I walked ahead of him and approached my friends. Wade greeted them with a smile.

"About last night, the man was holding you is he your boyfriend?" Wade whispered and he's referring to Marvin.

"I told you I don't have a boyfriend. Can you just stop asking me about that?" I said, controlling myself to push him.

"Why? I just want to make sure that you'll go with a good hand. I still care for you, Moron." Wade said it again. His mouth is full of dirty words.

I hardly nudged him with my elbow and I'm satisfied when I saw him writhing in pain.

"You demon!" He glared at me, but he smiled again.

I was shocked when he put his arm around my waist. I tried to remove his arm around me, but he's stronger than me. I looked around and I can't read their faces as well.

Wade suddenly brought his face close to mine. "Just introduce me to them. Tell them that we were together and we're so happy back then." He smiled.

I fell in love with that smile.

When I got back to my usual self, I suddenly punched him and twist his arm. "Ivan, Marvin, and Jacob this is Wade. The stupidest human being."

He pulled his hand back from my grasp and he suddenly hit my head.

"Nice meeting you." Wade smiled at them and shook their hands.

"And Wade this is Ivan, Marvin, and Jacob. The gorgeous people." I said, smiling.

He glared at me. "You introduced me to them as the stupidest human being and then they're the gorgeous people? You're unfair. You could clearly say that I'm your handsome best friend."

"Wow, Wade! Your face is too thick." Laura teased him.

"You're very demanding." I rolled my eyes. "Okay, I'll introduce you again."

I called again the attention of the boys. "This is Wade, he's my very own pet." I burst out laughing after I said it.

They burst out laughing as well. Wade is beside me, glaring at me like he wants to kill me.

"You woman! You don't know how to introduce me to your OTHER friends. You were kind back then, but I guess they influenced you to be a bad one." Wade said.

I just laughed at him. He's very dramatic like he used to be.

"Wade!" A beautiful woman called him. She looks like a foreigner.

She approached us and then Wade put his arm around her waist. Our eyes widened while looking at them. I have an idea that a girl is his girlfriend.

"She's my girlfriend." Wade introduced her.

My friends and I looked at each other because we couldn't believe that Wade got a gorgeous girlfriend.

"Hi, guys. I'm Treena." She smiled at us. Her beauty is out of this world.

We introduced ourselves one by one. I looked at the three men and I saw that they were staring at Treena as well. She can pass as a Miss Universe 2025. She's the type of girl that you will look at several times because of her gorgeous face. I can't explain how beautiful she is.

I wish I was attractive like her.

I just went back to myself when Wade held my arm. "She's my best friend, Louise." Wade looked at me, smiling.

"Oh!" Treena exclaimed and hugged me. "Finally! I've met you. Wade always mentions your name. He's right, you're beautiful even without make-up."

I smiled at her awkwardly. "You're way more beautiful than me, Treena."

Treena hit me gently and she laughed softly.

"I think you're a pet lover." I blurted out.

"Hey, how did you find out?" She wondered at my question.

"You got a dog." I pointed at Wade and burst out laughing.

I received another hit from Wade, but his girlfriend laughed as well. After our conversation they bid goodbye to us, but before they could get away Wade came back and hugged me tightly.

"You deserve to be loved and you deserve to be happy, dimwit. Even though you always embarrassed me, I wish you could meet the person that was destined for you because you achieved so many things. This time, you deserve someone who will love you genuinely, who will protect you, who will stay by your side no matter what happens, and who will accept you just the way you are. Even though I am married, I am still here by your side as a friend you can count on." Wade let go of me and smiled widely.

"I deserve all those things you've said." I sounded boastful, but my heart melted when he said those words.

"All right, maybe later you'll cry over that. I'm glad to see you again." Wade's last words before he ran towards Treena.

"If he's not your best friend and doesn't have a girlfriend, you look like a perfect couple. You and he have the same brain cells." Sheena said. I just smiled at her.

They didn't let me swim so fixing myself is useless. I just sat on the sand while looking at them. I hope tomorrow I'll be okay.

Since I can't swim, I went back to the room and changed my clothes. I left the resort without letting them know. I just want to go to a town near here in the resort. I roamed around the town alone. The people are so nice too, they talked to me a lot and I couldn't control myself telling a lot of stories. I think I told them my entire life.

As I was walking around, I stopped at a shop that was full of jewelry but made of wood. I was thinking if I would enter, but a necklace with a wooden heart pendant caught my attention.

"How much is this?" I asked the seller.

"It's only 150 pesos," Grandma said, smiling.

"Can I try it?" I asked.

"Go ahead." She replied.

I looked in the mirror in front of me. I held the pendant and smiled.

"It suits you," Grandma said, smiling at me.

"Thank you, but I don't have money to buy it. I hope it's still here in your shop on Sunday." I said as I removed the necklace from my neck and handed it to grandma.

"Do you know this necklace? It used to be mine." Grandma smiled, but her smile was mixed with sadness.

"An old woman gave it to me when I was a kid. I helped her carry her luggage so this necklace is what she gave to me. The old woman said to me that she was just passing this necklace to a person with a good heart and full of love." Grandma said, smiling as she looked straight into my eyes.

"Why don't you just give it to your children instead of selling it?" I asked.

"That's the sad thing about my life. I don't have children and I don't have a husband." Grandma sounded sad.

"I can see myself in you, Grandma." I laughed.

"It's hard to live alone so you should find someone sure with you and love you." She said.

"You're right, grandma." I said, "Grandma! Why don't you just give it to your closest nephew or niece?" I asked again.

"I can't and I don't want to either. I want to give it to someone with a pure heart." She said.

"Are your nephews and nieces bad people?" I joked.

"No, they are not. You naughty little woman!" Grandma laughed and then she looked at me seriously. "I just want to give it to the person who deserves to receive it and I think I've already met her."

"Really?! Just give it to her." I smiled.

"I'm referring to you, woman. I want to give this necklace to you." Grandma smiled as she placed the necklace in my palm.

I immediately returned the necklace because I didn't deserve to receive it. "I can't accept that. I'm not good as you think. Give it to the more deserving."

She insisted to put the necklace in my palm and she let go of my hand. "When you first entered my shop, I knew you were full of love and hope in life. From your smile and what your eyes say, I feel that you have a good heart."

I cried right away. I don't deserve that necklace and those words. I'm not a good human being.

Grandma took my hand and looked into my eyes. "Why are you crying? Did I say something wrong?" I glimpse of worries in her eyes.

I just shook my head while crying. "N-No grandma, I'm just happy with what I heard from someone I don't know very well."

She just laughed at me. "Go ahead and go back to the resort you came from. Be careful on your way home."

I couldn't help myself and hug her. She's like my grandmother, but my grandma was already dead. I hope she's not a ghost.

"Thank you so much for the necklace and for what you said. I don't know if you're joking, but I appreciated your gift to me. Take care of yourself and when I come back here, you should still be here. We'll be back on Sunday to buy stuff." I let go of the hug and smiled at her.

I bid goodbye to grandma and made my way back to the resort. I just smiled the whole time as I walked into the resort because of the necklace. Before I could approach them, Ivan suddenly hugged me so the necklace I was holding fell off.
