Chapter 25 - CHAPTER 25:

Sister and I stare at him for a short moment before I decide to shake his hand, as it would be rude to ignore him.

As I shake his hand, I realise the mistake I have made, as his hand is sweaty and weird to touch; somehow I managed to keep a neutral face throughout this event, which shocked my sister.

"The name is Jade, Jade Magnes." I say, while I feel the urge to wipe my hand, I refuse to let the feeling overwhelm me.

"Ahhhh!!! We meet at long last!! I heard many stories about you, Magnes!!!" Said Illyrio with a strange smile while giving a strange look to the Black man.

The man seems to understand the message and left without any delay. "I seem to have forgotten my wallet back at the carriage!!" Illyrio said, trying to excuse the Black man's behaviour.

"I see." I simply say, 'I really don't care; I will buy the scrolls and books, and we will leave.' I think to myself as both sisters and I turn our attention to the auction.

After a few seconds, Illyrio speaks once more. "I heard that you have 3 Griffins in your possession; they are quite hard to come by!!" "Indeed, we seem to have lucked out when we found them," the sister said.

"Indeed!! Do you mind telling another adventurer where you found them!!??" He asks, "Are you ...?" Before Sister finishes her sentence, I quickly take over.

"They were gifted to us." I look at sister with a slight smile. "indeed they were!" she says, backing my claim. "A very generous gift!!" Illyrio says, "Not as generous as your gift to the Targaryens." This seems to have startled him.

"If I may have your attention!!!" the auctioneer shouted from the stage, which captured our attention as the whole room fell silent. "I welcome all our esteemed guests to today's auction!!!".

"Today's main item is a gemstone; unlike other gemstones, this one can warm its user, even on the coldest of nights. If I were to travel to the north, I wouldn't be caught dead without it!!! "Once the auctioneer is done, the room bursts into uproar.

"How boring. It's only a simple warming enchantment, and yet they are so thrilled about it." sister said with some disdain.

"They can't be blamed; they don't know magic like we do." I say, earning a look from Illyrio.

"Let the auction begin!!!" The auctioneer's voice rang, drawing everyone's attention.

"For the next item, we have some books and scrolls. Found in old Valerya by an anonymous adventurer, the books teach how to travel safely in the sea; as for the scrolls, they are written in a strange language," the auctioneer started saying.

"Finally, it took them long enough." I said, waiting for the bidding to begin, "We shall begin at the price of 2000 gold coins." As soon as he said that, I raised my number plate.

"2000 gold coin." I said using wind magic to propel my voice, "2500!!" Someone shouted from the room, "3000." I said once again, 'What is happening!! who is interested in these books and scrolls??!! ' I thought to myself.

"Going once, twice..." The auctioneer said, "5000!!!" The voice shouted, Anger was latched onto the voice.

I was left speechless. 'Who in their right mind challenges a VIP? It must be a baiter. Fine, you can have them; I will find another way to get them.' I clear out my mind.

I get up from my chair and wake my sister up. "Whaa!! "It's over already?!" she asked while stretching her back. "No, someone else bought the items." I said, heading towards the door.

"Leaving already!! "The auction has just begun!!" said Illyrio with the same honeyed voice, "Perhaps, but we aren't interested in this tra... stuff." I start saying before correcting myself.

As we leave the room, we take a right turn and take the stairs. "So what will you do now?" Sister asked once we left the auction house, "I don't know how yet. But I will get my hands on those books and scrolls." I said.

"I will go to the inn; you take care. And try not to do anything incriminating to us," said the sister as she left towards the right.

"It was a one-time thing, and I was six." I whispered to myself. 'What should I do now.' I thought as I headed towards the alleyway.
