Chapter 3 - Ch.3: Shaun

Shaun takes out a small box from his pocket that is inside his cloak and pops it open revealing a small mirror, taking a look at the state he has gotten himself into he sighs again "I made a mess of myself again, I really gotta stop playing with my food even if the bastard deserved it" Shaun's eyes drift to his white, shoulder length hair, red highlights dotted through his whole head, more so now with the blood all over his face and neck, his eyes lower from his hair to his eyes which were no longer red but grey with orange centered around the black dot in the middle, his pale skin having slightly more colour in it since his meal, he was unusual for a vampire, but that's because he wasn't just a vampire but a hybrid, and not just any hybrid but a vampire/Lycan hybrid, Lycans were thought to be extinct.

About a thousand years ago everything from humans, to vampires to werewolves (which were the branch family of lycan) started hunting Lycans for there power, unlike werewolves who could only shift to wolf form and back, with a certain amount of pain, Lycans could take on what most people consider a werewolf to look like in the movies and such, big, hulking masses of muscle and walking on two legs rather than four, able to change in an instant while being able to just shrug off more or less anything that came at them, truly they were stronger than almost anything around, but the humans saw them as a threat to humanity, vampires looked down on all who weren't one of them, hell they even look down on other vampires, and werewolves were jealous and wanted to be the strongest form of wolf and not be compared to their stronger cousins the Lycans.

So eventually everything supernatural or otherwise set out to eliminate the Lycans, and they thought they had succeeded, which they very nearly did, but a few were hidden from even other Lycans knowledge and they lived in secret for about seven hundred years only revealing themselves to a select few who didn't care what they were, which weren't many, Lycans can blend into human societies so they are hard to find but if one is provoked enough slip ups can happen, which is where most of the modern legends come from, Lycans and werewolves losing it and lashing out, which usually results in a lot of cover ups and the culprit being eliminated.

How Shaun came about was never ment to happen however, his mother was one of the handful of remaining Lycans left hiding in the world, and was drugged one night by a vampire looking to get his rocks off with an easy score, vampires can't breed with humans, they are incompatable, but it doesn't stop vampires having what they considered fun with a lower species, which is where the succubus and incubus legends come from, vampires experimenting to see if they could somehow break the long thought impossibility of breeding a vampire without weakness from sunlight and silver, after that fateful night Shauns mother went into hiding to have the child she now carried in secret from everything that would want the abomination that was Shaun destroyed before he could be a threat to their way of life.

Cleaning himself up Shaun stands and with a swift crouch, springs backwards and lands on the roof top 10 feet behind him on the bar, without stopping Shaun turns and jogs to the edge and proceeds to leap from building to building making his way towards the edge of town not worrying about the corpse he left behind, he knew it would be found in the morning but he didn't care, he had gotten rid of a stain on the town and no-one would know that it was a supernatural attack because he had slit his throat cleanly to make it look like a knife and drank only enough to satisfy while leaving plenty of blood behind to look like he just bled out, apon reaching the edge of town with nary a sound he gives one last powerful leap high into the dark moonless night, Shaun opens his cloak, grabbing either side and seeming to glide his way towards the dark forest just over a mile away, Shaun lifts his head high, breathing in deeply and having a soft smile on his face, he loved this feeling, the land below him, the wind gently whistling by as he just left everything behind, finding this cloak back at the black market was the best thing he ever bought, they didn't truly know what they had, they thought it was just a cloak that made I easier to blend into the dark but boy were they wrong, this cloak was like none other he had ever seen or heard of, it could obscure the wearers face in shadows at will, make you near invisible at night and best of all, allow you to glide for short periods of time if enough height was reached, granted he didn't know that when he bought it either but it was worth every piece of his life savings just for this feeling right now.

A few minutes later he touched down with a slight thud and wobbles a bit "Tsk, need to work on my landings still" said Shaun, before darting into the forest towards the place he's called home for the last 10 years.
