Chapter 1 - The Figure in the Cave

"Liberation is near. I shall finally be unchained..."

The dark, lumbering figure moved across the damp cave.

"My sight... goes darker each day."

Closing its eyes, it tried to scour its mind for the memories of the world outside. Years of living in the damp, dark cave had made it almost forget about everything. The figure kneeled over and fumbled its hands around the ground, searching for something. After a few moments, it had found the object it had been looking for.

A rusty dagger was clutched in its hand as it stood up. Some parts of the dagger were already so chipped that a few more hard blows would break the dagger in its entirety.

The only part of the Dagger that wasn't damaged as much was the hilt. Made of a exceedingly rare type of steel, it didn't rust and only had a few scratches on its surface. The hilt had a scale-like design that ran from the top to the bottom.

The figure stood in silence as it listened to the sound of water dripping all around it. It was one of the ways it had to pass the time.

Drip, drop, drip...

It echoed on for no one knows how long. Until the light sounds of footsteps interrupted it. Soon, the footsteps multiplied in number. A large group was approaching the cave.

The figure listened to the footsteps coming closer and already knew what the group composed of.

"An elf and three humans."

The figure slowly turned and faced the entrance to the cave as the intruders entered.

"Is this the boss?" one voice asked.

"looks hideous." another added in.

As they approached, their torches gradually lit up the entire cave. The figure was slowly revealed.

It looked like it had a very large humanoid being. It had three arms, one protruding from its back. Its legs were oddly long and its chest had a worn out chest plate that had skin and muscles growing over and around it. It clutched its dagger as it brought itself to its full height.

The four intruders stuck their torches on the ground and readied their weapons. The elf had a bow while the other three humans brought out their longswords.

"We will slay you today, abomination. Your Presence will no longer defile this World." The elf nocked her bow and aimed at the figure.

"Slay me? You're too naive." The figure's deep, booming voice echoed across the cave, "Goodbye, foolish ones."

The figure then charged towards the intruders with a speed that was almost unreal for its size and swung its dagger.

For a few minutes, there were sounds of metal and screaming. And then there was silence.
