Noah's eyes widen when he read the message. For hunters the crystals in monsters are transformed into worldly energy to lvl up, they just call it exp though. When they reach a certain amount they level up giving them stat points. So with this disability, he would have to kill ten times as much monsters to level up pretty much making him a weak hunter. This is especially bad with the fact that he is G rank.
Ranking for hunters are from F-SSS, with there only being about 10 hunters who are SS-rank in the world. Rank is determined by a couple things, but mostly by how many stat points are given when people level up. This also determines the starting stats of someone.
When someone is G rank they are excluded from being a hunter because the stat points given are only one per level including their starting stats being one. Where as F-rank starts at all stats being 10 and getting 3 stat points per level.
Abilities is evaluated in the same way, but it is hard to measure for the machine. It is rare for someone to be a higher rank than their stat rank because how reliant abilities are on stats. For example, if someone with a strength ability has 10 points in strength, when they use a strength ability they have the power of someone with 13 points. If that same person has 100 strength then it would be 130.
This doesn't mean that all people with strength boosting ability would have a 30% increase in strength. This boost is a B-rank evaluation while having a S-rank would be a 100% increase. Most people have E-D rank evaluation.
The highest found is S rank. There are less people with S rank abilities than there are S ranks in the world. There are 10 times as many S rank hunters than they are people with S rank abilities. Since there are about 200 S rank that means there would be about 20 people with S rank abilities in the world.
Noah sighed, hopped out, and walked home. Usually, after being evaluated you would go and get your ability measured, but G ranks are not included in this because how low their stats are. While walking home Noah called up his status.

Portals are gateways to different tiny dimensions which would have natural resources that can be extracted. Some metals found are stronger than ones found on Earth, but those are not the best things.
It is beast carcasses and the crystals inside them. Even though most crystals are absorbed upon a beast being killed, some are special because they aren't absorbed. They are different from the green crystals that become exp. They are crystals that can transform into weapons using the dead bodies of the beast that held them. Some that do not use a beast body to transform into a are used by blacksmith with metals to form weapons and armor. Beast weapons are usually stronger because they have skills on them related to the beast that held the crystals. That is why appraisers exist to tell people the skill on a weapon.
