"Cosa vuoi? (What do you want?)" the man hysterically asked when he saw Rami and Salvatore approaching him, both wearing mischievous smiles.
The two only chuckled in amusement.
They hadn't even done anything when, all of a sudden, the man fainted from sheer fright.
"Alele!! We didn't even do anything—he just passed out just like that!" Rami pouted.
Salvatore let out a light laugh.
"Hahaha. Just leave a coward like him alone! Come let's continue eating. I still haven't had my fill yet." After saying that, Salvatore led Rami away so they could continue eating.
After that small episode, the two quickly forgot what had happened. They kept roaming around Rome, enjoying the simple moment they were sharing together.
As they wandered, they slowly became honest with each other about what their families did for a living—one was the heir of a Mafia family, while the other came from a line of assassins.
Upon learning these truths about each other, they accepted them casually. Before they realized it, they had become friends—brothers from different mothers.
"Abbattere una famiglia eh. Che famiglia? (Taking down a famiglia eh. What famiglia?)" Salvatore asks Rami with full curiosity.
Rami just shrugged.
"Inferno Cremisi." Rami said plainly.
Salvatore raised his brow, "Why?"
Rami signed, "As if you don't know. I just received a punishment from my Eldest Brother."
"Yeah. That news reaches me. I also found out that you have been injured, that's why they punished you." Salvatore complained.
"Good informant you have there. You're really informed. And oh, come on! Enough of that. Take a look, here, their name is on the list. You can find Inferno Cremisi's info in that too." Rami shrugged, not minding the complaint of Salvatore. Then he extended his hand which was holding his folder.
Salvatore reached for the folder.
After a while of silence as Salvatore read the file, Rami went to the sofa in the living room. He sat and positioned himself in a comfortable way while eating the grapes that he got from the center table that we're lying quietly in there.
'Wow! This green grape is so sweet! I want more!!' Rami exclaimed silently as he gorged himself on the fruit.
When the butler standing nearby noticed that the grapes were nearly gone thanks to Rami's enthusiasm, he quietly asked the maid beside him to bring more and prepare them at once.
Rami paid them no mind—until he suddenly winced as something smacked against the back of his head.
The folder made contact with his head with a dull thud, causing him to drop the grape he'd been holding just as he was about to pop it into his mouth.
Rami immediately complained to Salvatore, "Salvy. You're so mean!!Why'd you hit me?"
He always liked to call Salvatore in Salvy which was cute and intimate in his part.
"Shut it!! I still didn't forgive you because you haven't told me that you can hurt suddenly. Am I your friend? Best friend on our part? And now, you're here to ask me a favor. No way!!"
"You're still talking about that? I'm already okay now, promise. I just forgot to inform you? But Salvy, my life would not be easier if you're not with me!!" Rami said coquettishly towards Salvatore.
"No!! I still have many things to do." Salvatore refused flatly with a straight face.
"Salvy. . . ."
"I said no."
"Salvy!!"
"No."
"Sal--"
"No."
Rami pouted there with grievance.
The people around them felt deeply embarrassed by the pair's antics. They weren't used to seeing their boss behave so out of character. Despite his lovely and somewhat petite figure, along with a face that is so beautiful they could easily be mistaken for being too feminine for a man, ever since they had known him, he had always been aloof—distant in a way that kept everyone at arm's length. Their Don always carried an aura of quiet intimidation, cold and nearly impossible to approach.
Seeing their Don act like this now made them feel strangely relieved.
They realized that, aside from his family and a handful of very trusted attendants and high-ranking members of the Draghi Ombra, there was finally someone else who could make their Don become something like they are seeing now.
Seeing the displeased look of Salvatore.
Rami got silent for a while. Then he decided to finally confess a little.
"Salvy, I had no choice. The person who got injured is one of his men." Rami said softly.
This time, he managed to capture Salvatore's full attention.
"And?" Salvatore
"Nothing." Rami answered plainly. Not wanting to talk anymore.
Salvatore looks at Rami scrutinizing.
He knew something happened but Rami won't tell him.
He wanted to know but he was sure that if he asked, Rami wouldn't tell him.
He surrendered for now, he'll just wait for Rami to tell him the full details.
