Looking at the woman in front of him, Duan Xingzhi's heart tightened completely, aching intensely.
He picked up Bai Zhi in his arms, carried her to the bedroom, and placed her on the bed.
A kiss gently fell on her brow, "Now get some sleep, okay?"
Bai Zhi nodded.
Duan Xingzhi had just straightened up when Bai Zhi grabbed his wrist, "Where are you going?"
"I have some things to handle, just outside. Don't be afraid, just sleep peacefully."
But Bai Zhi held on tightly and didn't let go. There was too much uncertainty and panic in her eyes as she looked at him.
She was truly scared.
She was terrified of being alone again, afraid that if she really fell asleep, when she woke up it would all be a dream, and she'd find herself back in that broken, cold room.
Duan Xingzhi saw the panic and fear in her eyes and eventually couldn't bear it. He lay down beside her, "Alright, I'll stay with you, sleep."
