Tessa looked at Winnie Barnett in surprise, "Who said he doesn't like me? We got married, didn't we? How could he not like me?"
Winnie sat down by the bed, earnestly trying to convey her point, "Who told you that marriage always means love?"
Tessa immediately retorted, "I can't control what others think, but with someone like Faye, if he didn't like me, with his circumstances, why would he choose me? Girls wanting to marry him could line up all the way to France."
On this point, she was sure. She couldn't be certain about his love, but liking was definite. The kindness Faye showed her, she could feel, if not see.
Winnie snorted, "You only know how to look at the surface. Who knows, maybe he has other reasons for wanting to be with you!"
