Destrian stared at Sianna in confusion. Why would the king of Yorucia visit at such a time? He had sent the declaration, but he had expected Cassius to ignore it at best. After all, if they cared about Marlena, would Destrian need to send that letter in the first place?
Sianna was still standing awkwardly with her eyes closed, so Destrian dismissed her. "I will get myself and Marlena ready."
As soon as Sianna left the room and shut the door behind her, Destrian climbed back onto the bed and kissed Marlena's lips.
Her eyes fluttered open. She smiled sleepily. "You have turned me into an insatiable woman."
"I hate to disappoint you, but I'm not trying to give you pleasure yet. King Cassius is on his way to Itrusia."
Marlena's mind cleared almost instantly. She sat up in horror. "What does he want?"
"We will find that out soon. You have to get ready."
Marlena clung to Destrian's arm. "I don't think I want to meet him, yet."
