Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 - Finding Unusual Places.

After their roundabout conversations, Eggy lead them towards the edge of the forest, by where she spawned. The beasts did not dare to come close, because of the nefarious aura that Dia possesses.

Dia does not care about the beasts that she had cremated. If something wanted to kill her, she will definitely not hold back. If someone wanted to harm any member of her family, there is no use in keeping said someone alive.

They climbed in between the gigantic trees. They saw many insects pioneering through the bushes and leaves of the robust vegetation. The insects crawling on the stems and vines was nightmarish for Dia. From beetles, ants and caterpillars to butterflies and dragonflies, were colorful and pretty yet big as a human fist.

Birds chirped throughout the forest mixing with other sounds of beasts, that lurked within. Luckily they did not encounter any boorish beast this time.

At the edge of the forest, Dia, Hale and Eggy emerged.

Eggy was chewing on the smoked, grilled meat that she poked through a stick. Hale was scared, how can such a petite girl eat so much? She ate half the wolf and her stomach did not even care to bulge.

Dia just looked on, but did not comment.

"We can finally see the sky." Eggy sighed in relief with her mouth filled with fried meat. She was concerned about Hale the entire time. His wounds healed up but not his confidence. He will grow much stronger, she sighed inwardly waiting for that day to come.

"Do not speak with so much food in your mouth." Hale said with discontent. Eggy sure is a professional eater.

Dia rolled her eyes at them, "I see a town not far from here."

Dia pointed towards the town and smiled.

"Finally... Atleast we do not need to sleep on the trees at night." Eggy said with a sigh because the snakes and spiders within the forest is rampent at night.

They arrived at the town.

"What happened here?" Hale said with shock.

The town was in remnants and ruins. It did not look like a town but an ancient palace that was withered by the ages of time or some drastic war.

"This is not a town or a village, but an ancient palace." Eggy said with excitement. She saw the broken mighty sculptures on a wide path towards the entrance of the palace. Those figures looked like God's that a palace usually sculpts for protection.

"Such a huge palace lies here buried, and it seems that no one ever came here." Dia said as she scanned the place. The Mana in the area was undisturbed, which means no beastly creatures or people ventured inwards.

"Let's go inside, maybe we can find some treasures. You know palaces are filled with treasures, right?" Hale said with a cheeky smile on his face.

Dia rolled her eyes at him. "We do not know what dangers lurk within or what traps this place holds."

"I sense something weird inside like a remnant soul." Eggy said with a weird face. It was like something trying to call her inside. Definitely a remnant soul.

Remnant souls are souls that were broken apart because they cannot die. They are souls from very strong people that once lived. These souls have a consciousness and are probably resting in piece.

These remnant souls can die directly if they choose to, but remain alive if they want to pass on some inheritance. Some remnant souls are evil, called the ghostly soul. These souls seek to possess a body and control said body, making it their own.

Eggy wanted to venture forward but she is scared of the soul trying to seek her, whether if it's a ghostly soul or a remnant soul.

"Let's go forward for now. If anything is suspicious, we will retreat immediately." Dia said sternly, as she could also sense something was trying to pull them inside the palace.

They walked slowly forward, pacing moderately, and placing their foots on places that seems to hide no traps. Eggy held Hale's hands and lead him carefully forward. She was afraid if he triggered a trap and caused any injuries to himself.

Dia smiled ruefully at Hale, knowing why Eggy was so concerned. This brother of hers was definitely a trouble-maker.
