His dormitory room had two beds. The beds were both about 80 inches long by 70 inches wide and were pushed right next to each other. Steve was kind of speechless about what the system did for this. The students going to this school would live at the school for 5 days a week and usually could only go home on the 6th day of the week. The school gave out free dormitory rooms for students to live in. Normally, each dormitory room would have 2 bunk beds for four students to live in. However, students could choose to not use the free dormitory rooms the school let the students use and could instead choose to rent dormitory rooms and have the room to themselves.
Of course, the personal dormitory rooms could only be paid for by school credits, no other currency was excepted, no matter the amount Each student was able to rent a personal dormitory room for a price of 200 school credits a month. There were about 10 months for each school year. If they decide to rent the dormitory room for a year, they would get a discount and would only need 1,500 school credits. If they decide to rent the dormitory room for 3 years, they would only need to pay 4,000 school credits. For 5 years, it was 6,000 school credits. And finally, if the students wanted to rent the dormitory room for 8 years, the highest amount of time the students could rent out at a time, it would cost 8,000 school credits.
Not only did the system rent out a personal dormitory for 8 years, but it had somehow also made the room have two beds for no apparent reason. The system had also given Steve about 100,000 school credits in total. Steve had no idea what he was going to do with all the credits; he thought that there was almost no way he could spend all of them. He didn't really get the why system gave him all these school credits. However, he was more focused on the fact that there were two large beds in his dormitory room even though he was the only one who was going to be living in the room.
Originally, there was supposed to only be one bed, but somehow the "Steve" from his memories had ordered there to be two beds in his room. Needless to say, it was the system's fault. Steve felt like it was a really stupid decision that the system should have never made.
[It's so that you could have more space to sleep in and can lay in any direction you want.]
[My lord, I'm really sorry! But you can let other people sleep on the other bed! You can even let your monsters sleep on the bed!] The system said hurriedly, trying to please Steve. The ball of light within Steve's head was trembling crazily, and it seemed to want to move to the furthest corner inside Steve's head and hide there.
Steve nodded.
The system, seeing that Steve was satisfied, was relieved. But before it could relax, Steve spoke to the system again.
[I- I-]
However, before the system could find an excuse for himself, Steve cut the system off.
Actually, Steve wasn't really this mean, but the main reason that he was punishing the system was that he had read a lot of novels when he was young, and in many of those novels, the systems were bullying their host. So, he decided to take revenge for the people, even though they might not even exist in the first place. However, that didn't really matter to Steve. He just decided to punish systems and give systems a bit of a hard time if he ever came across one. The Monster Tamer System was just an extremely unlucky system that happened to pick Steve as its host.
Besides, if Steve had never read those novels where systems got threatened by their systems, he might not even really mind the system. However, thanks to the many amazing authors who might have gone through the adventures and endured such bullying from the systems themselves, Steve decided to punish the systems if he ever came across one.
The reason why Steve hadn't really punished the system yet was that the system was extremely obedient and did everything really well. However, Steve never forgot that the system had wanted to kill him, and although the system did try to make up for it, it didn't really matter to Steve. At the very most, Steve could just go and get monster cards himself. He had nothing to worry about with his strength. However, Steve wanted to experience school life again, since he didn't really get a chance to enjoy the pleasure of school life after he started cultivating. And although he kind of forgave the system personally for wanting to kill him, he was unable to forget the bullying that many of his favorite main characters had to endure in the novels.
Steve looked at the two beds again, and thought,
In the end, Steve decided that Icy was the best choice. He didn't really know anyone in the school except for his sisters, but there was no way he was going to invite them over since they seemed to be enjoying their dormitory life with their roommates. Plus, the school kind of forbid girls and boys in the same dormitory room, since there was a rule about early love being forbidden. Although the room didn't say that girls and boys ha to be separated, the school still decided to separate girls and boys, even if they were siblings. However, the school would actually approve siblings of opposite genders to live in the same dormitory room if requested, but no one really had the guts to do so.
Since his sisters were off the list, he could only choose his monsters. He could have chosen Uni or Leon, but Icy had been helping him the most, so he decided to let Icy out and let her choose first. If she doesn't want to sleep on the other bed, so be it. He would just ask his other monsters. If none of his monsters wanted to sleep on the other bed, then he'll just occupy the two beds himself.
Steve summoned out Icy and asked her if she wanted to sleep on the bed. To his surprise, Icy agreed. He had thought that Icy would reject since that seemed like what she would do, but it seems that he had guessed wrongly. However, that didn't really matter to Steve. Since Icy agreed, then, well, she can have the other bed to herself.
Steve didn't really think much about it and just got on the bed. He laid on his right, closed his eyes, and drifted off to sleep. Icy got on the other bed and laid on her left, facing Steve, but did not close her eyes and went to sleep. Instead, she looked at Steve's sleeping body, and then looked at his sleeping face. Surprisingly, her eyes no longer gave off a cold gaze and instead gave off a warm and caring gaze, as if she was an entirely another person. And for the first time, although no one could see her, she smiled.
"So, it really is you. This is your reincarnation," said Icy with a soft and quiet voice. She had already been suspicious before, but she could only confirm her suspicions now. "Although you don't remember me, I still remember you. I remember every single moment of our time together. There was no way I would forget about you. After all, you did so much for me." She reached out with her hand and touched Steve's cheek softly, her hand trembling slightly. She then continued in a soft voice.
"Although you don't remember me, I will continue to be by your side. I will serve you and be yours forever, no matter what you do. No one will interfere with us and our relationship. No one." After that, She gently put her hand on Steve's arm and went to sleep. Of course, all this while, Steve had been asleep and had no idea at all about what Icy had said.
