Chapter 3 - Just another day in the bar...right?

Walking into the bathroom as Zac was about to get into the shower...is when he looked at his reflection in the mirror...Zac saw how his face had matured after 10 years and was not the same young man he once was anymore. But, honestly the years weren't so bad on him, If anything he aged pretty damn well for 10 years.

His eyes looked more sharp and had a more well defined jawline with a bit of stubble on his chin. He also grew a few more centimeters in height...moving his hand towards his chest as if checking for something...but ultimately found nothing...

*Sigh* "Even after 10 years...It felt like it all happen just yesterday..."

Shaking his head from such thoughts and proceeded to take a shower.

Walking down the stairs after freshening up from his little morning work out, wearing his black leather shoes and slacks with a long sleeved white dress shirt and a black leather tux vest over it, with a black tie around his collar thats tucked under his vest complimented with his hair being slicked back.

He looked around his small establishment with a sense of accomplishment.

Red wooden floor boards, Maroon wooden tables and chairs, low hanging lamps with more than enough lighting for his customers as well as wide windows to let in the morning sun.

Even though it's a small work place with only two rooms upstairs he rather liked it, just the way it was.

Zak looked over at his bar that had a line of leathers stools down the counter side where he serves his patrons everyday.

Lined up on the shelfs behind the counter of his bar was a full view of all the types of alcoholic drinks that everyone could admire and chose from Vodka, Gin, Whiskey, Rum, Tequila, Brandy, and Vermouth...even though Vermouth is technically not a liquor...*cough* anyways! Important nonetheless.

Some of his patrons tend to ask where he got his hands on such rare commodities.

He would either say they were yearly family hand me downs or he just happened upon them at a cheap price from a merchant at the time.

Even if they didn't believe him, why would he care? It's not like they would believe him if he said he was the creator of half these drinks they were asking about.

How would he know about making these otherworldly drinks...?

It was a revelation from the Gods themselves as they bestowed him with there ungodly knowledge!

What? You don't believe that either huh?

All in due time, What matters is that life is good and he tends to keep it that way.

"Well let's set up shop, Can't have my customers waiting all day!"

Walking out his establishment to flip the closed sign to open; he glanced at another sign hanging on top of his business and couldn't help but mysteriously smile at it.

{Heaven's Doorstep}

The name had a special meaning behind it that only he would know and no else could ever figure out or understand. Not even Annette knows.

Many tend to guess the meaning behind the name saying that its where people come when they think life is better off without them and drink a bit of heaven before setting off to the afterlife to find solace in themselves.

While others say it's where those who wish to enjoy what little drinks heaven has to offer for them before heading back to the hell they call home.

"If only they knew...heh" showing a weary smile before shaking his head once more to stop thinking such thoughts again.

As Zac walks back into his bar, he sees Annette walking down the stairs with a pair of dark red high heels.

(I guess she was too embarrassed to get her shoes in the end)

he smiled knowingly to himself.

"What are you smiling about?" glaring at Zac with an annoyed look on her face.

"Oh nothing, I was just admiring your high heels is all" he said with a straight faced smile.

Feeling embarrassed by his words knowing full well what he meant behind the compliment. She calmed herself down with closed eyes and spoke out in a monotonous tone.

"Thank you, that's very flattering but we have a business to run and I don't wish to waste time on idle chatter."

Zac couldn't help but give a defeated smile at her response as she walked passed him before hearing a small whisper under her breath...

"...you better keep your promise..." she began setting chairs in there respective place for every table with a slight blush on her ears.

He went up behind her lifting her wavy glossy hair into his face and took a deep breath, making her jump at his action before saying.

"You know I always do." He couldn't help but feel a little hypocritical when he said that...letting go of her hair as he joined in with helping her with the chairs leaving her with an even deeper shade of red on her ears.

When they heard a ding at the door, As if on reflex they both greeted the patron walking in with award winning smiles.

""Welcome!""

*******

Late Afternoon rolled in, as the bar filled up with hardy laughter and singing from both men and women after enjoying a hard days work.

"Excuse me! Can I please get the Steak Seasoned with elven herbs and spices!" Yelled out a regular from across the bar.

"Coming right up! Would you like it with elven wine like you usual do as well?" Annette asked with a cheery voice to the long time customer.

"Hahaha! Please do and thank you for remembering!" Shouted the regular as she saw Annette give a warm smile and headed to the kitchen to get his order ready.

From a distance, Zac was watching Annette from his bar with hint of admiration in his eyes at her diligent work ethnic. Until he was interrupted by a loud booming voice from across his bar.

"Hey Bartender! I want three rounds of Alraune Mead on the rocks for the lady's and Hurry it up will ya!" shouted an old viking looking man with a long beard and tall rugged appearance, posing a shit eating grin as he slamed the menu at the end of the counter of Zac's bar with a few women at his table waiting on there drinks.

Without responding to the old rude bastards words, Zac's hands moved with a swift smooth motion, placing three glass cups in front of him. As he snap his fingers, releasing a small hint of magical energy in the air with ice cubes forming on top of each glass and fell in place.

He then spun around grabbing two bottles of distinct colors and pouring them into his cocktail shaker. Spining the bottles in his hands before settling the bottles down as he grabs the cocktail shaker and begins to mix the drinks together in a fast shaking pace.

Turning once more around with a slightly opened cocktail shaker and began pouring the glasses one at a time very rapidly. Filling each glass with a precise amount of liquid.

Then he slid each drink down across the counter towards the astonished viking hasbeen as the drinks came to a stop in front of him, one by one.

Completing the while process in a matter of seconds!

Zac then spoke out to the dazed old dumbass loud enough for the whole bar the hear.

"I know it's your first here old timer but, Would you mind not gawking at me? I'm not into old men, sorry" as he grabbed another glass and started polishing it with a white rag and ignored the old rude viking looking bastard all together.

The viking dumbass soon heard a roar of laughter from the whole bar behind him.

Turning around to look at the women at his table only to see them laughing along with the crowd pointing fingers at him while covering there mouths.

Angry with embarrassed he threw few sliver coins on the counter and took the drinks to the his table, wanting to avoid being humiliated more than he needed to be.

But, before he could even sit down with the women after giving them thier drinks they all individually got up, holding the drinks they just got from the poor viking bastard and headed straight for the bar counter.

And sat in front of the Bartender that just humiliated him in front of the whole bar!

"Hey handsome~" said a brunette with a singing voice wearing a black low cut dress that reached just above her thigh gap, revealing a deep ravine on her chest as she crossed her slender leg over the other with strape heels.

"We were wondering~ If you had the time to show us girls a good time" Another girl with tan skin and short curly black hair chimed in with a chamring smile and wearing a red blouse which exposed her pushed up breast by a fair amount combined with a short black frilly skirt showing off her tan legs with black heels.

"Yeah~ We would lo~ve to know what you can do with those experienced hands of yours~" exclaimed another women with long Auburn hair while licking her plump lips as she wore a mature magenta colored spring dress showing her pronounced perky breast and Thicc legs while wear ankle strapped heels, giving off the air of a ripe milf.

The women he was trying to impress, completely disregarded him and were flirting with the damn Bartender!

Zac gave the women a side glance, before putting the glass he was polishing down on the counter.

"Look ladies, I have a motto I follow in my bar" Zac said in a professional tone.

"Business Before Pleasure" he sternly stated before loosening his expression and said the next line that would make the women flutter.

"Bu~t, I don't mind entertaining you wonderful young ladies, As it IS part of my business to serve" giving a rather gentlemanly smile at the the mature women before him.

Hearing the girls squeal at his attempt of wooing them.

*CRASH*

It was then he heard a loud defting noise of a table being smashed and saw a an enraged old bull heading his way.

Making the women move aside out of fear of getting bulldozed by him, The bull reached out and grab Zac by the black tie.

Making the whole bar go quiet as if waiting to see a showdown happen.

"If you think I'm gonna let a damn Server of a man like you! Make a fool outta of me! You have another damn thing coming you wet eared WHELP!" He bellowed out in a frustrated manner.

It was then that Zac spoke to the sacred girls.

"Escuse me ladies, I have an unsatisfied customer that I need to...deal with" as he winked at them with smiled that show he was without a care in the world while being held in a tight grip by the robust bull of an old man.

Looking back to the old bull in front him, he kindly said to him.

"I'll give you a chance to let me go and pay for the table you smashed up since it's your first time being in my bar. After that, you can leave old timer" Hopping the dumbass cuck of an old man would get the message across but...

"BAWHAHAHAAH!!! You think a weak bastard like you can threaten me out! Your nothing but a damn pup wet behind the ears that servers drunkards all day long!"

Closing his eyes for a moment after hearing enough out of this dumb bull's mouth, he breathing in...and out.

"What?! You finally realize your situation huh?! Good! Now how about yo-" not even being able to finish his threat before a hand was on his wrist.

"Huh? What do you expect to do with your weak little han-ARRRGGGHH!"

It was then he was met with a loud wake up call as he felt unmeasurable pain from Zac's hand squeezing his pressure point on his wrist, making him lose his grip on Zac's tie.

Zac then gently let the old fogey bull go as he fell on his ass holding his wrist.

"THAT'S IT!! YOUR A FUCKIN' DEAD MAN!" Howling in pained frustrated manner while still hold his wrist.

It was then Zac saw Annette wonderfully walking out of the kitchen with a tray holding a plate with a steaming steak on it and a wine bottle.

"Miss Ann! Perfect timing! May you please take the trash outside?" Zac spoke in an carefree tone as he started to fix his ruffled collar and adjusting his tie.

She squinted her eyes a little at her pet name being called, until she turned her head to see what the situation was, she looked at the hollering rugged viking looking old man on his ass yelling at Zac and then at the three cowering women on the side of the bar.

Taking another look around she also noticed the smacked table as well as the quiet crowd staring at the whole fiasco going down.

*sigh* 'Another one' she thought to herself when she looked at the destroyed table.

Placing the tray on the counter, she walked over to take out ... the quote on quote [Trash].

"Of course, It would be my pleasure" Annette announced as she place the tray of food and wine near the bar and proceeded to walk towards the wounded old bull.

She stood behind the wincing old man on the ground with a prim proper stance as she looked down on him with a dark smile, just another insignificant speck of dirt to sweep out of the bar is all she saw when looking at the old rag of a man.

"You dare look down on an experienced adventurer and make a waitress fight for you!" he roared in humiliation as his pride was being step all over to no end today!

Not being able to take anymore of this disgrace! He turned to the waitress and lunged out to grab her in order to take her hostage, trying to get the upper hand in the situation!

When he saw the unchanging expression on her face, he felt a sudden chill as if his gut was warning him but, it was too late

When she disappeared from his line of vision like a ghost...is when he knew...he fucked up.

Annette just stood in place before quickly stepping to the side at the last moment, reached for his arm with one hand and pulled it back behind his back. Kicking the back of his leg to make him kneel on the ground.

The old fogey couldn't help but freak out by how strong the little lady was, as it only took her a matter of a split second to execute such quick decisive moves in order to take him down!

"You actually dare try to put your hands on me? You disgusting old pig." Annette utter in complete disgust as she tightened his arm further back.

It was then that Zac announced out loud to the old bull kneeling down on his kneels.

"Ah yes! And I'll be keeping this for the damage fees" tossing a pouch of coins in his hands up and down in the air.

The kneeling old bull turned his head around in surprise!

"WHEN DID YO-!"

*CRACK~!*

"GRAAAHHHHAHAAAA!" The old man cried in pain when Annette snapped the bones in his restrained arm.

It was then that the usual customers that come to his bar on a regular basis opened the bar's doors knowing what was about to happen to the poor bastard.

"Miss Ann? If you may?" Zac said in a polite tone.

Annette gave a swift kick to the family jewels from behind, making the old fogey hunch over knocking the wind out of him. She then grabbed him by the back of his pants and broken arm that was still being held by her.

And with her inhuman strength, she threw him right out the door that was being held by the customers.

*WOOOSH*

*BAM!*

Looking at the poor old dumbass crashing on the dirt mud with his ass in the air and holding his crushed jewels with one hand twitching on the ground.

She padded the filth from her hands and returned back to pick up the tray of food and wine she left at the bar while going back to work as if nothing even happened.

Zak looked towards the girls who were in a state of shock and told them in a gentle voice.

"We're sorry for letting you see such an...ugly display So, in return..." He looked around the whole crowd...

"Drinks are on me!" He declared with grand gusto.

"WAAAAAARRRRRHHHH!"

The whole bar erupted in cheer! Almost feeling thankful for the poor old bastard that was kicked out for making a mess.

It was then one of the young hooded newcomers asked one of the regulars "Who are they and for them to just be running a bar with the kind of strength they have? Couldn't they make a name out for themselves instead of being just servers?"

The regular responded to the hooded newcomer as he was new to all of this with a warning tone "I'd watch what you say boy, especially calling them [Servers]" he continued on.

"And to answer your questions...I can only tell you from what I heard from rumors...Some say that they're retired top class Ex-Adventurers while others say that there probably run away sweet hearts running from there powerful prestigious families." he paused for a minute then said to the newcomer.

"...All we do know is that one day they both showed up in this town of ours 5 years ago and asked if they could purchased a small old broken down building to set up shop...since then, whenever there would an incident that could have destroyed our town like a monster stampede or invading raiders and bandits." he gulp as remembered there amazing feats one by one before continuing...

"Those two would be the first in line to take care of it... all on there own...saying it would be bad for business if there was no town to begin with..."

It was then the newcomer exclaimed "No freaking way! Just for that reason!?"

...and did you say...m-monster stampede...They could even stop that on there own?!"

"Why haven't I hear any of this before getting here or anywhere on the continent for that matter?!"

The hooded newcomer couldn't help but feel flabbergasted by all this ridiculous information.

"There's a reason for that...that is, in return for being able to live here in peace and being treated normally like everyone else...they were willing protect our town of ours...so long as we keep the rumours of there heroic actions to a minimum..." he explained to the newcomer.

"Till this day there known as our town's Guardians even if they don't wish to accept such titles... we even gave them both names after seeing them in action" the man said with a hint of pride.

"What do they call them...?" Asked the newcomer in anticipation.

"See that young lady that threw out the old troublemaker, Some know her for her beauty as the Scralet lily. But, for those that have seen her in battle...they call her the Ruthless Dragoness, due to her ripping through her enemies she deems to be eyesores with a carnage like smile that matches that of a dragon on a rampage." he then turns his eyes towards the man behind the bar.

"The Bartender behind the counter, They call him the Decisive Fool mainly because he treats dire situations as a joke and delivers a quick end to his enemies before they even know what hit them..." he paused before also mentioning with a bit of gloom in his eyes...

"He's also known as the Garden Plucker, as you saw not too long ago with those three women being pluck by him from that poor old bastard..."

"Thing is...I know that all three of them have fiances or husbands at home"

Leaving the newcomer in a weird state of contemplation.

Zac had a somewhat acute sense of hearing as he could hear how these two talked about him and Annette.

He couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed by the last part about him and the three women but, at the same time. He felt a sense of pride behind that statement.

At the corner of Zac's eyes, he saw Annette shaking her head in defeat but, ultimately smiling at the end as she walked back into the kitchen to prepare the next order.
