Chapter 26 - Still Evie’s POV

I take a step out if my tent, filled with excitement. I trot into the forrest, wondering what herbs I might find to crush with the stone I will turn into my enchanted pestle. My wondering makes its way to a small lake with a waterfall. The sweetest little thing aways cheered me up when I would visit. I used to visit with my mother before she passed. She would bake cookies and meet me here when she knew something was wrong. The crystal clear water put me at ease as my tears joined the lake. The lake seemed to take away my pain as it collected my tears. Water indeed carries memory, and for me, this water had every precious one. It carried the good and the bad. With that, I took a stone from the water and placed it in my basket. That moment was when I saw it. I slowly stepped closer to the sweet flower. A sun beam came from the trees and shined on the flower as if I was destined to see it. Its red petals wrapped around each other. Its sweet scent came to memory as I took each step toward it. But wait, I felt that something was wrong. I had a feeling that something would happen if I took that flower, basic fairy tail logic. I read about it in books all the time. I thought I might as well look for herbs somewhere else.

That night, I lay down as an insomniac. My mind couldn't escape that flower. When I close my eyes, visions of it pop into my head. When my eyes open, they are drawn to the forest where I had found it. I couldn't take it any longer and decided to go find it once more. As my quivering body took each step, the air grew colder. I reached the lake once more, but it was different. I then looked behind me to see the flower. I couldn't believe my eyes.
