Chapter 8 - Ehhhh!? I'm Not Aladdin

'I can't believe its been four years since I made a deal with the devil... ahem I mean the goblins. I still can't believe how quickly the contact lenses took off and with our patent we won't have to worry about someone stealing our already stolen work! The good publicity for helping the werewolves doesn't hurt us either, especially as Blacks.'

'Anyways, I've learned all that I can from the training resources I was able to bargain for, though I'm at a bottleneck until I'm able to use magic myself. I've tried to refrain as much as possible from using the mana in my core during this time, as it was still in the stabilization phase. If my core was solid I would be able to start getting hands on experience. Since it wasn't, I could only make do with amassing knowledge at the moment.'

'This all changes today! I can now begin my true journey to greatness. Orion and I received our Hogwarts letters over the weekend and this morning we have a trip planned to Diagon Alley to pick up some supplies and more importantly, our wands.'

'Not much has changed over the years with our family besides our Father getting pestered to join the resistance against Grindlewald on the continent. Orion is still a lazy sack of potatoes, Lucretia is spending more and more time with our grandmother to "learn how to be a debonair lady", and our mother still dotes on us kids just as much.'

'Thanks to the Father's combat training and a healthy dose of nutrient potions, I've grown to be in incredible physical shape. This, on top of the rituals performed when I was younger, has made me look like a perfect representation of a pure-blood wizarding family. My core has finally stabilized into a red crystal shard and boy was I surprised when my mana concentration was off the charts. Right now it's about 1/3 of my fathers and I haven't even reached my second magical maturity. I now know how brilliant it was to choose the realm before I started off. It really is a cheat code, I might as well have a Game Shark.'

'I've come up with a plan to build an AI in my realm to sync with my pocket, but at the moment I don't have enough mana or skills to complete it in one fell swoop. I should probably ask Kevin if there is anything he can help me with since I already have all the knowledge needed from Shuri. And, since the pocket is soul bound I can most likely speak with it mentally without the need for any extra additions.'

"If I can get it all synced up, I may be able to download information directly from my mind into its database... and if I can get that library spell to work... I can begin to copy all of the magical knowledge this world has! HAHAHA brilliant!" mumbles Lucien, "I better call Kevin."

'Pocket, call "Blonde Bastard #1".'

[Calling...]

"Why hello little Lucien! Happy Belated Birthday!" says Kevin over video chat.

"Ohhhh and why haven't I received your gift yet? Hmmmm? You know this birthday is very important for wizards like myself. I can't believe you would forget me after I've worked so hard for the Office," says Lucien shamelessly.

"Worked hard! You brat! Hard my ass! I've seen how your mother pampers you... And the way you bully your father, I should be calling you Lin Fan from now on! Ughh, so what is it you need? I know you wouldn't reach out without reason," Kevin grumbles.

"Ahh yes, let me get straight to the point. I'm looking to build an AI in my realm using a mix of magic and technology. I've got an idea to use read-writable crystals made with AoE, as well as a computer that can channel mana into energy to power itself. I don't have the capabilities yet, but I plan to include collapsable and spacial enhancements with a fidelius charm to hide all of the important pieces."

"Is there any type of basic multiversal info packet available for me to use? This world wont have internet capabilities for a while and I would rather not have to teach everything to an infant AI myself. Plus, I would assume the home office has protocols that need to be followed to prevent an Ultron type incident."

Kevin looks surprised, "We do have that available, which I'd be happy to gift you for your birthday! But this seems like a lot of work for a sentient helper. I would be happy to provide a spell scroll for you to create yourself a tower genie. Once they are finished with the information packet, they will be able to easily sync to the pocket."

"Hmmm... that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I wouldn't be able to clone the code to create similar AI's in the future though would I?" asks Lucien.

"Well, technically you can if you can implement programing language with the help of your genie. This way it would only need to clone a portion of its essence and you can create a data egg to be introduced into a new system. The only issue would be it would need years to gestate and be born like a traditional AI," explains Kevin.

Lucien questions why it would take years when normal AI's wouldn't take that long.

"That, Lucien, is because it will be using the ambient magic of your realm to create life. Although it is not life from nothing, it will still take time."

"Let's do this then! I'll take the packet and the spell scroll," Lucien exclaims excitedly.

"The items are now in your storage. This is the last time I'm able to gift you anything without an exchange of credits or favors. Speaking of which, when you are done in that world, we have a short term mission for you to complete. As of right now, you are the only one I can send. Time flows differently in each world, so enjoy yourself, and please try not to cause too much trouble. Later kid!"

[ You have received a gift, "Happy Birthday".

x1 Basic Multiversal Information Packet

x1 Tower Genie Creation scroll ]

Lucien mentally smirks, 'Brilliant! That bastard sure outdid himself this time. Now I just need to check wand and familiar off of my to-do-list.'

"Mom!" Lucien yells, "Are we ready to leave yet!? I want to stop by Knockturn Alley after we get our wands to see if they have anything interesting for sale!"
