He picked up a sponge and lathered it with fragrant soap. His movements were surprisingly gentle as he began washing her arms and shoulders, his touch almost reverent. For a few peaceful minutes, the only sounds in the room were the soft sloshing of water and the steady rhythm of their breathing.
