Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

After a refreshing bath and change of clothes, the sisters had a good sleep, rejuvenating themselves for the tasks ahead. When they emerged from the warehouse, they were greeted by the sight of a big farm, stretching out before them like a verdant oasis.

"Great! It's a farm - maybe we can find some animals or vegetables that we can plant," Sapphire exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement.

Canary cautioned her, "Sshhh. Lower your voice, be careful of zombies."

Fortunately, their caution proved unnecessary, as they encountered no zombies on their journey. As they walked, they gazed up at the sky, noticing that it was about to get dark again. The nights were much longer in this world, and they knew they had to find a safe place before nightfall.

Their experience in the space had taught them that they could only stay there for 3 hours, and that time stood still within its boundaries - there was no nighttime.

The farm was vast, and the warehouse was located in the woods, making their journey more challenging. They had to tread carefully, as the dry leaves and branches underfoot made it difficult to move silently.

As they walked, they came across trees bearing fruit, but it was still green and unripe. They continued on, their senses on high alert, knowing that zombies became more active in the dark, increasing the danger.

Sapphire picked a green mango, wiped it clean, and took a bite. The sour taste made her face pucker, but they loved sour fruits.

"I love this!" Sapphire said, her eyes lighting up. "It's so sour!"

Violet chuckled. "I know, right? I'm surprised you didn't make a face."

The three sisters busied themselves picking green mangoes, grateful that the tree wasn't too tall and that their new bodies were taller than their original height.

After gathering some edible fruits, they continued towards the farm. As they reached the edge, they saw a western-style farm surrounded by fences, with houses featuring red walls and blue roofs.

"A few zombies wander in the fields, likely the former owners," Canary said, her voice low. "We need to be careful."

The fields were barren, except for golden haystacks, a tractor, and a truck. With darkness approaching, they needed to deal with the zombies to enter the house.

"We should trap the zombies inside the farm by locking the gate, then attack them from outside," Violet suggested.

Sapphire nodded. "That's a good plan. Let's do it."

Violet carefully locked the gate using a rope, trying to be as quiet as possible. The plan was to trap the zombies, then kill them safely from outside.

The zombies' slow speed made the plan feasible, and they were ready to put it into action.

The sisters steeled themselves before facing the zombies, but the gruesome sight still made them want to quit.

Violet, closest to the zombies, was horrified by a clouded eyeball falling out of a zombie's face, revealing half of the bone. The stinking mouth suddenly enlarged in her field of vision, and her expression went blank with horror.

A zombie rushed towards Violet, its mouth wide open, and disgusting saliva dripping from it. The sisters' minds went blank, and they trembled, almost falling down.

"Ahh!" Sapphire screamed, covering her face.

Canary was the first to move, using her chain dart to attack the zombie without looking. The dart hit the zombie's head, and it fell down.

The noise attracted the other zombies, and the fence wouldn't hold them for long.

"Let's do this!" Violet said, her voice shaking. "We have to kill them!"

The sisters used their weapons, Violet her boomerang and Sapphire her thorn whip, attacking while their eyes were closed.

Canary was the first to open her eyes, and the scene was more horrifying than any gruesome horror movie she'd watched.

"Ugh, this is disgusting!" Sapphire said, retching.

They all retched and took minutes to calm down.

"I want to go home," Sapphire sobbed, tears streaming down her face.

Violet hugged her, tears in her eyes. "Me too, Sapphire. This is hell."

Canary felt guilty, wishing she'd ignored the message. But they knew regretting and crying wouldn't help.

"We have to be strong," Canary said, her voice firm. "There's only one option: survive and complete our mission. We have to enter the house before new zombies arrive."

They climbed the fence, approached the house cautiously, and killed a tied zombie. The scene was still disgusting, but Canary was trying to get used to it.

As they neared the door, their hearts beat violently, and tears rolled in their eyes.

With strong will, they overcame their fear, opened the door, and ensured no zombies were inside.

Tears flowed uncontrollably, but they knew they had to adapt to this cruel world for their sister's sake.
