The flash of cameras painted the red carpet in gold. Lin Yue stepped out of the black car with a practiced smile, every move polished by years of fame. The cheers were loud, almost blinding — but lately, even applause felt hollow.
He bowed slightly to the reporters, adjusted his collar, and turned toward the entrance. That was when he saw him — the new bodyguard.
Krit stood beside the door, tall and still, with a calm that didn’t belong in this noisy world. He wasn’t smiling. He didn’t need to. His presence alone made people hesitate before coming too close. His sharp eyes met Lin Yue’s for barely a second, yet something in that look felt unsettlingly familiar.
A spark, quiet but alive, passed between them.
“Mr. Lin, this way please,” Krit said in a low voice, opening the door.
The sound of his voice was deep — steady enough to calm the chaos around them.
Lin Yue nodded, pretending not to notice the warmth that crawled up his neck. He shouldn’t feel anything. Krit was just another bodyguard — hired to protect, not to be noticed.
But when Krit moved closer, guiding him through the crowd, Lin Yue could feel his presence like a silent shield. For the first time that night, he felt… safe.
Inside, the world became quieter. Only the echo of their footsteps followed them down the hallway.
“Thank you,” Lin Yue said softly.
Krit simply nodded. “Just doing my job.”
Still, as Lin Yue walked ahead, he caught himself glancing back once more. Krit’s eyes were already on him — steady, unreadable, and far too gentle for someone who was supposed to stay in the background.
He looked away quickly, unaware that this moment — this spark — would change everything that came after.
