A stream flowed through the mountains, crystal clear and icy cold. It weaved its way past towering peaks, merging and branching with other streams to form a dense network of waterways.
Gu Yu hid beneath the water, letting the current carry him along as he cautiously extended his Divine Sense to observe the indigenous people of the Southern Border.
In these endless mountain ranges, there were numerous wooden villages. Some housed a few dozen people, while others held hundreds. Their interaction was frequent, with a rough class hierarchy and unified leadership in place.
As he moved along, Gu Yu couldn't help but marvel at the peculiar forms and appearances of these people.
Like the gatekeepers from earlier, they appeared as though they hadn't fully evolved. Every individual bore some ancient traits, alongside freakish and unique variations.
