The campfire illuminated Mr. Su Bai's face, as well as Cinderella's, casting alternating shadows and light that obscured their features.
Cinderella's face had returned to its usual appearance, that pitiful look, but in front of Mr. Su Bai, she acted even more cautious than before.
"So, you knew all along that I wasn't a Divine Envoy." Mr. Su Bai smiled faintly, took the roasted fish off the fire, tore off a piece of the flesh, and chewed it with delight. Cinderella had brought some salt with her on her departure, and the simple seasoning allowed the fresh taste of fish to shine when roasted outdoors.
"I and my mother are both from the Dark Demon Race, although we are one of the least capable among the Dark Creatures, but we are Dark Creatures nonetheless—how could a demon possibly send an envoy to help me?"
Cinderella said self-mockingly, then she began adding more firewood to the campfire and placed another prepared fish on the rack to continue roasting.
