"Ppupupu!" A burst of energy machine gun fire swept over the dirt mound outside the trench, kicking up some dust. A vigilant Freedom Fighter shrank back, slid down to the bottom of the trench, and leaned his back against the trench wall, panting heavily. Around him, in numerous large craters, the wreckage of dozens of mechas was burning, thick smoke obscuring the entire front line, making it suffocating.
This was the first line of defense for the Freedom Front. A full half hour had passed, and the fierce attacks of two mechanical armor battalions had still not breached this first trench.
The mechas at the foot of the hill once again surged aggressively, a few shells landing around this Freedom Fighter, the flying dust quickly covered him as he lay down in the trench, turning him into a dirt-covered figure.
