BANG!
The doors were pushed open
"Xia! Xia, my darling! It is time for your morning classical poetry lessons"
Riosuka swept into the room, her lavish silks swaying gracefully in the morning breeze. Trailing behind her was Rica, carrying two ledgers and an inkwell, along with Solar, the youngest maid.
"Oh..." Karas muttered, finally understanding why his fierce little general had retreated behind him like a frightened chick.
Karas offered a polite, somewhat helpless smile to his mother. "Good morning, Mother."
"Morning, Karas," Riosuka replied briskly, her sharp eyes scanning every corner of the spacious bedchamber. "Where is Xia? Rica informed me she had finished with her bath."
Rica stepped forward, her eyes locking onto Karas. "She is right there, Madam."
Behind Karas's back, Sylaris's small hands tightened on his robes, fidgeting. "I don't want to go with Nia-Nia" she whimpered against his spine.
