I stood there in utter disbelief as the night took the most drastic turnabout. From losing everything, to what? Becoming the pack's Alpha? I could've sworn I had gone insane from all the shock going around, but the rapturous applause that filled the hall told me otherwise.
My mouth agape, I glanced at Waverly. Her tears were still flowing, yet now, they contained a hint of relief and joy.
"You did it, Kaeren… You really did it." My beloved wife-to-be said beneath a sniffle.
My lips quivered. I felt a wetness beneath my eyes, courtesy of the storm of emotions that I was feeling at that very moment. I grabbed her hand, allowing myself to believe in this newfound reality.
"No.. We did it, my love." I said, before pulling her closer and planting a kiss on her lips.
